The name of the game is werewolf. This is  forum game of teamwork, deception, and a skill at persuasion.

Rules: The rules are simple: Survive

Gameplay:
The game begins when the Game Master (usually referred to as the 'Oracle' sends private messages to each of the people designated as werewolves. Depending on the size of the group, there may be more than one active werewolf. It is up to the Oracle to decide how many, but its good to keep a ratio of about 1 werewolf to every 6 or 7 villagers. After he has chosen, the day rises and the Oracle declares that there are werewolves. Going completely on blind instincts, the players must all (including the werewolves) decide who amongst them is probably a werewolf, and should die.

Side Note: These conversations can be roleplayed to whatever degree you as a player sees fit, however it is encouraged that you don't fill any one post with more detail than people are willing to read. Its a game, not a story. We're not trying to read about how a snowflake landed on your fingertip and proceeded to melt its way down your hand while you were in deep thought...just play the game.

After voting is done, the Oracle roleplays the death however (s)he sees fit. If the person that died played a role in the game, the Oracle must say so during the roleplay. Dead people are not allowed to make any comments of any kind for the duration of the game.

After the first day is done, the game reverts to the 'night' phase. In this phase, there is to be no speaking by anyone except the Oracle. The Oracle sends 'private'  messages to each of the other werewolves, telling them who their teammates are. They then decide with their teammates on who they should kill. After they've decided, one of them sends the vote to the Oracle. (S)he then roleplays the night phase ending and then roleplays a short story of who died and how. The Day phase begins anew and the cycle continues. Day phases are usually put on post/time frame limit so as to ensure the game continues smoothly. The amount of posts in the time limit are up to the Oracle to decide but it is generally safe to go with 50-70 posts/3 days (whichever comes first). The Oracle may choose whether to remind the players of the time limit, though his/her post doesn't count towards the limit.

Side note: Should a player have any questions that they must address to the Game Master they may either roleplay some form of asking the question, or simply put "OOC:" at the bottom of their post followed by their question. Game Master posts aren't counted towards post limit.

Winning Conditions: The game is won when either all of the villagers are killed, or all of the werewolves are slain. Should the ratio of werewolves to villagers ever become 2:1 or greater, the oracle may inform the werewolves of this and the werewolves may choose to roleplay an all out onslaught in which they rush the villagers and tear them to pieces. The villagers are allowed to join the roleplay for fun, but should not try to challange a wolf's roleplay with one of their own. Should the villagers wipe out the werewolves, they may choose to rp a celebration. The wolves may not rp, as they are dead. The winning team may decide the next game's Game Master.

Roles:
Werewolves:

Werewolves have the uniquely difficult task of killing off all villagers, without being killed themselves. During the day, they must convince everyone that they are not the killers, while simultaneously throwing them under the trail of someone else. The werewolves' goal as a whole is the mass murder of the villagers, meaning that if one werewolf wins, they all win. It isn't uncommon to throw your teammates to the flames in order to get rid of any suspicion towards you. Your tip is to remember that people will read and reread 'everything' you say

Villagers

Villagers are the common folk. They're task is actually even harder than the werewolves'. They know that their chances of dying are much higher in the beginning of the match and they don't have the luxury of knowing who their friends are. They're goal is to stay alive long enough to uncover the true enemies. Your tip is to remember that not every word said is suspicious.

Tracker

Although the role isn't mandatory, there is often one person given the title of tracker. At night, Trackers have the ability to privately ask the Oracle if a certain person is or is not a werewolf. The Oracle is to privately answer yes, or no to the question. The tracker's life is just as difficult as the rest, with the added fact that trackers are often the werewolves' targets as they have a potentially deadly ability. Your tip is that just because you know you're the tracker, doesn't mean anyone else knows. You are able to give out that information, but don't forget that it would have consequences.

Shaman

Although the role isn't mandatory, there is often one person give the title of Shaman. At night, the Shaman has the ability to cast a protective energy around one person. That person will not die that night. Should the person been the werewolves target, the Oracle must roleplay the house being protected and tell who the target was. Should the person not be the target, the Oracle is not obligated to say anything. Your tip is that you are able to protect yourself, although doing so 'may' make you even more of a target.

(Other things)

I'm considering adding extra roles that I dont tell people about at the start of the match. Like having someone who's obsessed with doritos, or having someone who is dsylexic or someone who can only speak in riddles or something.


The Game Master may use his/her imagination, however if the majority votes that the Game Master is being unfair or stupid, they may vote to discontinue the game and host a new one, with a different Game Master. You interested?
