OFFLINE | The remote line doesn't require that many amperes. Just about ever amp only uses ~0.5 amperes to turn the amplifier on.
What source of power are you using for the remote lead? The blue wire off your head unit? If so, make sure there aren't two. Some head units use one for the amplifiers which puts out a very small amount of current, usually not higher than 1 ampere. The other one is blue, also. That one is usually used for a power antenna and sends more amperes, up to 5.
The difference is, one usually has a white stripe on it, one doesn't.
Then, there are some head units that use a hot pink wire for either the amplifiers or the power antenna. Find out which one your head unit uses for the amplifiers and only use it. If you're sending more current to the amp than it needs the wire will heat up and possibly blow the fuse as a protective measure to keep the wire from starting a fire. |
