Why should one store food? There are many reasons. Some will want to store food because they are in a tornado, hurricane or earthquake region. Others because they are in areas that are prone to snow storms or flash floods. Some will see the heat and droughts that hit the "bread basket" of the nation causing crop failure. And still others will because they see the prices at the store going up.

It comes down to everyone looking at their surroundings, finances and what they want for the future if financial troubles should come about due to loss of job, illness or other financial stress in the Nation. Or if natural or man-made disaster should hit. Everyone will have to make their own choices on whether to store a few days - what is referred to as a 72 hour kit as recommended by FEMA and Homeland Security. A few weeks - as most families in the country already do. 1 to 3 months as recommended by many military survival trainers. 3 to 6 months - which is recommended by some other emergency groups. Or 6 to 12 months - as recommended by some Religious and Survival organizations.

If you feel on talking it out here, to get suggestions and ideas then please feel free. But I ask please get with your family both immediate and extended. Or friends at work, church, bowling league or anyone else who you trust and would want to survive along side you and make a decision.

I try to think on the Chinese proverb "The rich man plans for tomorrow, the poor man for today." Do you want to be a rich man or a poor man?
