Siddharth has, reportedly, bagged a Hindi film which will be directed by David Dhawan. A Mumbai based tabloid has reported that Dhawan has cast Siddharth in his upcoming film, which is a remake of Sai Paranjpye’s 1981 cult comedy Chashme Buddoor. Siddharth is all set to reprise Ravi Baswani’s role from the original. The tabloid has also quoted that it was Siddharth’s proximity to David Dhawan that landed him the role. Taapsee Pannu is also part of the cast and it’s going to be her debut film in Hindi. However, it’s still not clear if Siddharth & Taapsee are a couple in the film. More details are awaited.
Meanwhile, Siddharth’s next film O My Friend is being shot in Hyderabad. Shruti Haasan and Hansika play lead roles in the film. Venu Sriram is directing the film and Dil Raju is producing it.

Siddharth & Ali Zafar in Chashme Buddoor Remake
David Dhawan is all set to remake Sai Paranjpye’s 1981 cult comedy Chashme Buddoor. While Pakistani singer-actor Ali Zafar has stepped into the role that Farooq Shaikh played in the original, Dhawan has now roped inRang De Basanti star Siddharth.
The South actor, who was last seen in Chandan Arora’s Striker, is going to play the late Ravi Baswani’s role in the film.
Casting for Ravi Baswani’s role was both tough and emotional for Dhawan. He explains, “Ravi is the only member of the cast who is no more and I miss him.
Ravi and I were roommates when we were both starting out in our careers. I had to put Ravi in safe hands. I had to cast someone who I knew would do justice to his part.”
It was Siddharth’s close proximity to Dhawan that landed him the role. “I’ve known Siddharth for a long time. He is a dear friend. And only a friend can play Ravi Baswani’s role,” said Dhawan. Siddharth and Dhawan were earlier supposed to work together in Hook Ya Crook (2010), which later was made with John Abraham in the lead.
Going by Amitabh Bachchan’s guest appearance in the original, Dhawan also intends to bring onboard Big B to make an appearance in his remake.
