What is real hip hop these days? Is it the stuff you hear in the underground or is it the mainstream stuff you see on TV and hear on the Radio? Personally I think its the stuff you hear from the underground plus the music from '05 and forward. I do have to say Hip Hop's golden age was definitely the 90s and 80s with rappers like Tupac and groups like Wu Tang Clan and Run DMC. However everyone has their own thoughts so spread your opinion.

Actually, I'll have to agree with you on your opinions.

The simple answer to this question everything that you don't see on BET or hear on the radio is real hip hop.

I hate the whole era of rap after 1999.

It's horrible.

They're in a genre of their own.

Depends on what you consider hip-hop. I fully consider acts like Jay-Z and Nas hip-hop. I also listen to backpacker **** like Atmosphere, Aesop Rock, and groups like it. People may talk **** about the groups who make the shitty music and patented dances, and although they suck they still have a place in hip-hop, although they are merely trends and fads. The real artists who have track records and longevity will keep hip hop afloat through all the bullshit music that comes out too. Hip hop will always change and have new ideas and concepts. Some will fade with the new idea, and the good **** generally sticks around for a while.
