Can the soldiers-in-training check themselves out and back in for their pass, or are they supposed to be checked out by a family member?

Is he allowed to drive while on pass, or will I be acting chauffeur?

Are there any rules I should know about besides the obvious (no drinking, etc)?

Will I be on an actual field? (Translation: If I wear cute heels, will they sink into the ground?)

EDIT: Never mind about the heels. I googled and saw that is a bad idea.

They have to be signed out. The family member, friend or whoever is essentially "taking responsibility" for the recruit when they sign him out

You get to be a chauffer!!!

Just the normal...do drinking, use the brain...no prostitutes...surprising yes this has to be mentioned. He will get a full brief before he is released so he should have exactly what is expected of him straight from the DS mouth.

The first graduation I went to, I wore heels. I mumbled about those heels the entire time we were out there and ended up tossing them in the trash when the day was done. Not the best idea I've ever had...lol

So the guys who have no family or friend coming are gonna have to stay on base, huh? Poor guys - I'm so glad I can make it to both events.

No heels and no prostitutes. Got it. Check.

Hey Dana, Can you find out or do you know, is it typical for the soldiers going on to Airborne to still get a weekend pass after they get inprocessed on Friday after Graduation? I know there are other families whose soldiers are going on to jump school also. We are coming from Virginia & have other family coming for the graduation. I know everything is subject to change in the military but, it would be helpful to have some idea of what is the norm for planning purposes, (hotel reservations, flight schedules & such) much less how much family time to possibly expect with our solider. Thanks so much for your help.

Teresa sorry I didn't see this....this answer is taken straight from the Fort Benning Website

There are several different paths after graduation for our Soldiers. If the Soldier is graduating from 9-week basic training, then he will report his Advanced Individual Training at another installation. If the Soldier is in the National Guard, he is released back to his Guard unit. If the Soldier is going to a follow-on school at Fort Benning (Airborne, Javelin, etc) then he reports to that school following the ceremony (most Soldiers going to a school on Fort Benning will typically have that weekend off). If the Soldier is immediately going to his first unit of assignment, then he will be afforded the opportunity to take chargeable Permanent Change of Station (PCS) leave or participate in the Hometown Recruiter’s Assistance Program (HRAP). After either leave or HRAP, the Soldier will proceed to his first duty station.

When you cllick on "'What happens after graduation"

Yana....it usually lasts an hour or an hour and a half approx.

I'm going to be starting to pack soon (yes, I'm anxious! haha)... What should we wear for the formation ceremony? Also, same question for graduation. Should we be dressed up?
