OFFLINE | My six year old son has a cold. My question is that it is only is third week (first full week) of first grade should I keep him home? It is only a cold but I can tell he feels terrible and his throat is hurting. I know if he goes that he won't be able to focus and will only be spreading it to everyone else. At the same time I don't want him to miss so early in the year and set a pattern for missing for every little cold because like it or not there are just days when he has to go because my husband and I can't miss work. What should I do?

OFFLINE | I would go with your instincts, you know him the best and you will know what is right for him. If he is too sick to concentrate or contagious and you think he would be better off at home than at school it might be a good idea to keep him home, but if you think that he will see it as a way to get out of going to school when he doesn't want to than maybe he should just go and tough it out. I know my daughter will come up with any excuse to get out of school, but I can tell when she really is sick and needs to stay home. |
