OFFLINE | Hey guys i have an old 200ix and would like to run a clarion WF2510 shallow sub in my s10. the RMS on the sub is 300w but the amp says 200, i was just curious if this was underrated and if so by how much. also should i spend the extra $30 on a dual voice coil or save the money and get the single voice coil since its a budget build? any help would be great, Thanks. |

OFFLINE | The 200IX produces more than 200 watts, you will at least get 400 watts RMS at 4 ohms mono. |

OFFLINE | OK thanks for the reply i figured it was underrated but wasn't sure if it would power the sub properly. Also, think i should save my money and get the single voice coil and only run 4 ohms instead of the dual and run 2 ohms? |

OFFLINE | I repair amps for a living and offer people a new birthsheet with a repair for $15 extra. Well, If the customer has a birtsheet say no but everyone always gets it if not I do it anyway for my own personal record incase I don't have it. I just repaired
one of these. First of all the amp uses 6 output mosfets on each channel. That's allot! On this paticular one wattage bridged at 4 ohms is 392.8. Sinewave started clipping at 407 watts. So the scope had a good clean sinewave. Yes, this amp is underated. Oh yeah forgot, the tests were done with 14.4Vdc

OFFLINE | Good to know, Mark. What frequency did you use?
Look forward to hearing from me, soon. I have a Punch 100DSM that needs repair. |
