I posit that privatization of the military (like Blackwater) and privatization of prisons is akin to buying insurance from the mobster carrying a crowbar who walks up to you in an alley sayin, "Yeah, me and my guys will keep ya safe!"

Agreed for the most part.  The Military is the only yhing our Government does right and the reason is because there is no expectation of profits, no expectation of them ever making a profit, they are superior to any other Military, they are the only thing ever created that is paid by the public under the Constitution's outlines.
