OFFLINE | Thanks to the work that Mike Lee, my BNI Insurance Broker friend, did with the underwriters based on the document I wrote about Social Media management services we now have an agreed one-page Proposal form for Professional Indemnity - you will find it under the Files tab.
The premium is £120 plus 6% tax for £250,000 of Professional Indemnity cover, and he also provides Public Liability (£2 Million cover) cover at £42.50 plus 6% tax.
Mike and I have done a lot of work to get this set up as a group scheme for Social Media marketers, so I'd love as many of us as possible to take the insurance out though him.
You can contact him direct at mike_insure@hotmail.com or by phone on 01483 797402.
Just so that I can track the amount of business he is doing (my BNI referrals in other words!) I'd be grateful if those people who take out the insurance let me know too.
To apply, just print the form, complete it and scan it and send it back to him via email.

OFFLINE | Very keen Martyn - but two things present:
1 Will this offer stay open until next month
2 Since I understand Methuselah already cast, how about a shave?

 OFFLINE | Julie,
No limitations on time - as far as as I know. It's a group scheme so they want to get as many people as possible in, so it should be open for as long as necessary. Any queries, contact Mike Lee - details as above.
The photo isn't really me you know, just the greatest living English musician, Robert Wyatt.

 OFFLINE | Guys,
When I negotiated this deal with Mike Lee, in order to get us a group scheme with extremely low premiums the underwriters needed some assurance that there would be a reasonable take-up - and I gave Mike the list of 36 or so people who had expressed an interest in the f/b group.
I'm beginning to feel exposed because very few people have followed up. We all need professional indemnity insurance, so why the feet-dragging?
Hands up all those who want to put their home at risk - you needn't bother with insurance.

OFFLINE | Thanks Martyn, your jpg has answered most of my questions. However, just wondering how much detail we need to put in no. 7, i.e. can I just put 100% social media management? And I can't really complete no. 5 and 6, as I have no 3 largest contracts in last 5 years and don't yet know what they will be over next 12 months.
Nearly ready to send the form to Mike, so any advice much appreciated.
Insa
Martyn - No, they won't accept 100% Social Media Management. The services document that I put together was an attempt to break SMM into activities so you could put a few of those in and add to 100%. Have you looked at the completed proposal form I submitted? You could copy my figures or use your own, it's only an estimate anyway so as long as the figures add to 100 you'll be fine.
Again, see what I've put for "last 5 years". In your case I'd take the annual value of your Neve Pavillion contract for one of them, the key thing as Michael Lee says is not to leave any questions blank - you have to put something and they know you've only just started so won't have much to put in those sections.
If you're unsure on anything, call Mike.
Insa - Thanks Martyn, I'll have another look at your doc.
Insa - Has anyone else been asked to provide more information on what they do? I copied what Martyn put in his form and have just had an email from the broker saying:
With reference to your recent e-mails with Michael Lee regarding the new professional indemnity insurance quotes, please note that I have sent your quote to the insurers and they have asked for a more detailed explanation of what works are being done and the services offered, I would ask you to please write out a description of exactly what works are being done and the services offered, and forward it to myself at your earliest convenience.
Should you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact us.
Not quite sure what additional info to provide.
Thanks,
Insa
Martyn - Insa,

OFFLINE | Sahra G - Just to let you know, my name was on the original list and I do still intend to get this sorted with Mike. As I haven't any clients I have not been very proactive so far. Fingers crossed that changes soon
Lesley W - I really need to get my insurance sorted - I'm feeling vulnerable! Are you just going for PI or PL as well? I'm not sure I can see the need for PL...
Martyn S - PI is essential, PL is only necessary if you are ever likely to have anyone (member of the public, client, prospect, workman) visit your home office - it would cover you against claims if they tripped up over the cat and broke a leg.
Lesley W - Thanks Martyn - that's what I thought.
I also have school holidays to contend with, and my youngest doesn't go back to nursery until a week tomorrow, but I'm putting it at the top of my to do list. |
