Check this out everyone.....

FYI:  NEW PRIVACY setting called "Instant Personalization" that shares data with non-Facebook websites and it is automatically set to "Enable." Go to Account > Privacy Settings > Apps and Websites > Instant Personalization > Edit Settings, and un-check "Enable". BTW if your friends don't do this, they will be sharing information about you.

Good post!

Another head's up ...

When you're in the privacy area, be sure you don't disable the "Forum" app.  In order for you to participate here, some info (like your screen name and pic) must be shared.  So, if you turn off "Forum", it'll impede your ability to be part of this group.

Wow, these 'privacy settings' get so convoluted at times. Thanks for this!

Yup.

To be honest, I don't really care if Bing gets data that'll improve my 'experience'  (xlation: ad placement) with them because ad sales is what makes this all free for us.

And I like 'free'.

OTOH, it's pretty shady and borders on being unethical to do it without making an in-your-face announcement to all FB'rs regarding this kind of data-sharing agreement.

It's just a handful of non-Facebook websites.  And it only "shares" information that is on your basic non-friend profile...whatever people can see when they're not your friend.

For example, the only site that's on the list that I ever go to is TripAdvisor.  And when I'm there I just read and have never entered any review I have never signed in for an account.  If you go there...and sign in to an account...and sign in using the "Use Facebook Sign In", then it will show you IF there are any reviews written by any of your friends..if they have accounts with the same basic info on their accounts.

Thanks for the heads up Susan.  Another friend of mine sent this to me as well via private email so I quickly fixed that.

Scott - I almost messed up with the Forum app because I was trying to block all apps and hadn't realized it would prevent me from participating.
