 OFFLINE | Reading Kansas got hit yesterday with an F3 tornado that destroyed the little town just outside of Emporia, Kansas.
This afternoon, a massive tornado hit Joplin, Missouri ... 150 miles south of me in Kansas City. It's being reported that 75% of the town is gone. The largest hospital has been destroyed along with it's firestations. A nursing home is reporting at least 7 casualties. It is a nice little town of about 49,000. The death toll as night time falls is at 30 with many people still trapped. Triage is being set up in a local high school.
Kansas City Missouri and Kansas have left with heavy rescue equipment. Our area helicopter traffic / weather guy just came back and he's been doing this for 20 yrs and said he's never seen anything like it and we get tons of tornadoes here ... *sigh* ... he said take Greensburg Kansas and multiple it by 100.
A call out to all first responders to head towards the area with equipment go to 34th and Main in Joplin ...
Needless to say, it's hard to tell the good folks of Kansas and Missouri that the world is not coming to an end with the horrible storms we endured here last couple days ... please pray. |

prayers being sent for everyone affected. and God speed to those doing rescue and clean up.

OFFLINE | Prayers needed more than ever as the good people of Kansas and Missouri dig out this morning. The death toll is 89 as day breaks. They are receiving so much help ... good folks just showing up that they've had to turn away until they can organize better. Heavy search and rescue equipment was sent last evening from Kansas and Missouri to help. I know several medical personal who caravaned out last evening ... good folks.
Bad news is that they are going to be hit again within the hour ... hail / thunderstorms that will halt the recovery efforts.
