My sub recently started making an awful blown out type of sound. I am feeding it with an old trapezoid shaped fosgate power 500 amp which is mono bridged. I know the RMS is 1000w and peak is 2000w. I also know that I am not hitting either number with the amp I'm running so I'm not sure how I could have blown a voice coil or anything else in the sub. It moves freely but when I run the signal to it, it sound horrid! Is there a reason this could have happened all of a sudden? Is the sub shot? And another concern is that I have a box that was built especially for this sub taking into account the sub and port displacement, the box is also made into my trunk and can not be removed without destroying it. What should I do at this point?

Thanks in advance,

Paul

I did take it out and it looked perfect, i had thought it may had been a loose or disconnect wire but they were all fine. do you have any idea were one could get it reconed and how much it would run? also any idea what could have caused the problem?
