For those of you who are pet owners, particularly of aging cats and dogs, what pet foods, store bought or homemade, have you had the best of luck with?

Also, what successes have you found in giving your pets medications; what has worked and what has failed?

My two little Island mutts get Pedigree for small dogs
Heart tabs once a month for mosquito's - (Valuheart)  purchased online (important when you live near water) and it's less expensive
Over the counter (whatever I can find at Target) flea control product once a month

My cats get Iams Weight control with Hairball control because they both have fairly long hair...and they are indoor cats
I also use over the counter (whatever I can find at Target) flea control product once a month on them too

For my almost 15 year old indoor cat, I have had great luck with Fancy Feast White Meat Chicken Tuscany and Fancy Feast Grilled Tuna. And I give her filtered water, never just tap water.

Lol, well cats can be incredibly fussy. In my case, my cat had a major medical problem last summer and I couldn't afford to be intolerant of feline finickiness. I tried so many different things sparing no expense. And when I found some luck with these Fancy Feast varieties, I stuck with them. I really wanted the Purina can food, but I couldn't find it ANYWHERE here.

I've got a cat, a dog, and a boy.

All but the dog are finicky eaters from time to time.

But I have a solution for those times (cat included) ... if you don't like what's served, then don't eat.

Ginger (1 yr old Sheltie / Aussie Shepherd mix) gets Science Diet Lamb and Rice, it's what she is used to and she loves it.    4 yr old Crystal (Pastel tortie) gets Science Diet Hairball control light.  I chose Science Diet because I like what they do and how they do it ... and law firm I used to work at represented them ... good people !
