OFFLINE | How did I begin my passion for cigars? Well, it all started tentatively in Bosnia of all places. I was a serving soldier there for 6 months in 1997 when I came across a box of 50 x King Edwards for about $25. I thought this was an attractive price to introduce myself to cigars.
Since then, I have been visiting the United States yearly where I discovered some great little cigar shops with humidors that have a magnetic quality about them! I then started bringing back various types, mainly Nicaraguan and Dominican, and so started my real passion for quality hand rolled cigars.
Then, in June 2009, I made a visit to Havana, Cuba....and the rest is history. I'm now a fully fledged fan of Cuban cigars! I was lucky enough to have had the opportunity to visit the Partagas factory, and I can honestly say, this was the highlight of my visit to Havana.
Today, I still have about 30 King Edwards left (disgusting creatures!) and am very grateful to Cuban Cigar Club to give us Cuban cigars so close to home! I attended the first Cuban cigar evening at the Hotel du Vin in Newcastle which was one of the most enjoyable nights I've had in a while.
Looking forward to many more to come |
