I just used this platform to create a philosophy forum

http://apps.facebook.com/facebook_forums/philosophy/

but I am unsure what more I need to do so that it is listed in the main director.

A phil. forum is definitely essential.

Also, I am not sure how to appoint a moderator.

Can someone walk me through this?

Hi Noah,

Your forum is active now
You could add more categories to your forum though.

You can appoint moderators here
http://www.facebookforums.net/create-a-forum-on-facebook/cats.php

Thanks,

Thank you kindly

I added a couple more categories, and moved some threads around.

I figured I would serve as moderator for now until someone shows initiative and steps up to take on the responsibility, but it didn't seem to work when I entered my name.

It seems like the bulk of the activity is in the  /english_forum  I guess I assumed that's where the philosophy forum would go when it became active.

Still getting used to how this place works.

Do you anticipate that more traffic will arrive with time?  Or if that turns out to be a dead end branch of the internet, is there any chance of moving the philosophy section to the main area where people will have a chance to stumble upon it?

Once you created your forum, you are the administrator of your forum.
So, you dont need any moderator privileges.
However, if you like to assign a moderator you'll need his/her Facebook user id.

Thanks,
