So, I have and old Punch 225.2, from 97 or 98, and it has the female 6 pin connector, for the Punch Bass knob. The older Punch bass knobs are quite difficult to come by anymore, and the newer Rockford bass knobs have an 8 pin male connection. So I was looking around at some other bass knobs with 6 pin male connectors from other car audio companies, like MTX, and Boston for example. And I was wondering if anyone had ever tried to use a bass knob from a different company on one of these older series Rockford amps? If so, did it work? Also, I have a Punch bass knob for the newer amps, with 8 pins, and wondered if there exists some sort of 8 pin to 6 pin adapter, so that I might be able to just use what I have, and keep it all Rockford?

If you're dead set on finding an original, go to www.caraudioclassfieds.org and search there. If you don't fine one using the search function, go to the WTB (Wanted To Buy) section and post a thread there. Expect to pay a pretty penny for it.

When push comes to shove, you can always use a device like the PAC-LC1
http://www.amazon.com/PAC-Remote-Amplifier-Level-Controller/dp/tags-on-product/B0002J226O

You can get them on Amazon for ~$15. They like a volume knob that you put inline to the RCA's from the head unit to the amp. They work great. I've used them many times.

I like them because they control the volume of the entire amp, not just a specific frequency like a lot of factory "bass knobs" (40Hz, 45Hz, 50Hz, etc.)

Good luck in your quest.
