I got another letter today from Marquis.......it was NOT his typical letter.....it was one little page and two lines on the back.....Spoke nothing of food or feelings......Basics is all......He spoke of firing week and that they had their first practiec range a few days ago....Marquis said for his first time shooting he got a lot of 4's and 5's and a 3...( I have no freakin idea what that means!!! : He says that he feels he can qualify expert if he sets his mind to it and stops worrying about the SCORE...and just concentrates on shooting...He also spoke of PFT where Platoon 2166 got 2nd place to Plt. 2163.....He said that sucked but that HE HIMSELF did well on the personal PFT...He thinks he could have done better but again says that is him being way too hard on himslef and trying to be THE BEST HE CAN BE.....and that pretty much sums up that little letter!!!! ::....he did say a few encouraging words to his brother about going after his dream of being a police officer.....and that he just needs to go after it and not be lazy....as he feels that Timmy will be great at whatever "walk of life" he chooses as he has the BORBA MENTALITY!!!!!! I had to snicker at that a little!!!!! So thats all I have ladies.....I hope some of you can fill in some of these blanks that we all seem to be being dealt right now......Hope you all had a great day!!!! Until we meet again...Oorraahh Plt. 2166....KICK SOME ASS AND STAY HEALTHY!!!!~

Well, no letter for me or Meg, but Aaron did write his Meme ( my mother) and his Sissy. Just mention how much he is missing chinese food and mexican food! It was more personal letters to them and that he is doing well but very busy. Geez, I wish they could surpass Plt 2163 one time in PFT!!  I hope Aaron writes me soon with details on how he did in firing range.  Just waiting......

Apryl that's so great you got another letter! I also got a letter! :] Steven wrote me three days in a row and put them all in one envelope, it made me so happy to know he took the time to do that even though he's really busy. He said he got pink eye! "But it's almost all better!" haha I was so glad to hear that. He also mentioned being super excited to start rifle week, he said he named his rifle Amanda Marie and "plans on shooting expert with her!" haha boys and their guns :]
Also, on the 21st he said they "went on a 5 mile hike at 6 in the morning with 60lb packs!" Soooo glad that's not me! AND on the 22nd he said that "chow was amazing this morning!" Which is hard to believe after hearing so much about how awful it is haha
He also knows that I write him a letter every day so he mentioned that he got my letter from the 12th and from the 14th but not the 13th which means it got lost along the way somehow :/ Hopefully it finds it's way to him before he leaves boot camp lol
Brenda I'm so sorry you and Meg haven't gotten letters, the waiting game is the worst :/ But just think, when it comes, which is inevitable, you'll be so extactic you won't even remember how long you had to wait :] Hoping and wishing you get a letter soon!! I'll have my fingers and toes crossed for you :]

Brenda Im sorry that no letter came for you or Meg today!!!!! But I am happy to hear that Aaron wrote his Meme and Ashley!!! What a good grandson/brother!!!!! Im sure we wont hear anything about firing range until next week sometime....  I am so on board with you about Plt. 2166 kicking into HIGH GEAR and STOMPING some Plt. 2163 BUTT!!!!!~ That has to be so frustrating for them....I'm feeling their pain... The last 4 letters of Marquis' with the exceptions of today's that is all he is talked about is FOOD.....Guess I kow what I'll be doing on his 10 day leave..::.......Amanda I am so happy that you finally got letters!!!!!!!!!! I am also glad that he has gotten yours!!!! I often wonder how many of the letters get lost in the maill.....I have sent Marquis at least one letter a day and sometimes more depending on what the days events were......so you figure they have been gone for 46 days and I have sent at least 52 letters......Hmmmm, I might need to bring a backpack just for his letters!!!! ....Amanda Marquis also said chow at CP is much better than at MCRD....the only bad thing is it is not enough...Man that kid can eat let me tell ya!!!! Hoping that we ALL get some good juicy letters next week as to how this all went for them tomorrow and then of course the 8 mile hump on Saturday!!!!!!! Hope you both have a great evening and a great day tomorrow!!!! {{hugs to you}}....

Yay! Amanda!! So glad you got several letters!! Sorry to hear Steven had pink eye, that can be so annoying!  I'm thinking if Aaron wrote 2 on Sun, just maybe he got time on Monday to jot me a few lines....we'll see. He made his Meme so happy that when see read it to me, she started crying! That is wonderful he is spreading his love elsewhere, because I know they are strapped for time. Yes, a great grandson and brother he is!

Hope you gals have a great FRIDAY!!!

Hope you all had a fantastic Friday! I got another letter! :]] He let me know that he received the missing letter from the 13th! Which is good because I forgot it had a picture of me in my new dress that I wore to The Women of Color Empowerment dinner at my university :] ALSO! I was very pleased to read: "Pendleton is awesome! Hiking, shooting, lots of working out " I'm so glad his spirits are continuing to stay up, makes me feel much much better :] He said next week was the beginning of field week and that right now (he wrote this on the 24th) "it's the Fire Team portion where we camp outside, hike more, and do night obstacles with our rifles!" I love how even through writing I can tell how excited he is about his rifle haha
I just thought I'd let you ladies know what our guys are up to! Hope you have an amazing Memorial Day weekend! Got anything fun planned?
Talk to you later! :]]

Thats great news Amanda!!   THANKS! I'm sooo happy he is loving CP! I'm so anxious to hear how my son is enjoying it also. Aaron sent 4 letters our way Friday afternoon, unfortunately NOT one of them for ME...boohoo. No, Aaron was so sweet to send his dad a homemade birthday card! He's so funny, he actually wrote Hallmark on the back and taped a bar code under it We got a chuckle from that! Two letters are for Megan and she is out of town on a trip so I'm holding them for her. You have know idea how hard it is staring at those letters and wondering whats written inside....gotta wait till Tuesday darnnit! The other letter, he wrote a friend back from his old job where Megan works too...need to send that one with her. Last time I heard any details was Swim Week where he qualified on the first day. Then a guy getting injured doing Pugil Sticks...THATS IT!!  NADA, ZILCH,ZERO, GOOSE EGG, FROM ANYTHING FROM CP!!!GRRR!!! ok I had to vent!!! I  want info!  My questionnaire will get to him soon enough and hopefully he will send it back!

We have not even discuss what to do this Memorial Day weekend, but I will be flying our American flag remembering the service & sacrifices made by our veterans! Please remember our Heroes!!

Have a safe and wonderful holiday!!

Happy Saturday to you both!!!!!! No letters yesterday for me......As I said I guess my 2 days in a row was all I get!!!!!! Still no information with regards to SWIM and PUGIL STICKS......Grrrrrr....I'm with you Brenda on the frustration of not knowing!!!!! I mean come on Marquis, a question is a question!!!!! ::......I wouldn't think it would be THAT HARD to answer a direct question.......Hopefully the questionaire will get answered as well as yours Brenda!!!!!! Amanda, I am so glad that you have gotten letters and that Steven seems to really be enjoying CP......I do think that is the majority between our guys!!!! Loving CP and the chow there!!!!! At least I know he likes the food.....::.....If nothing else, talk about the food, right????? HAHA....Hopefully we will hear about qualifying some time next week....There is no mail on Monday so I will be sending out extra letters today to make up for Monday.......We have to remember that when waiting for the mail this week ladies...it will be a day later than normal probably......No major plans this weekend......cleaning and yeard work....FUN FUN!!!!~ Like you Brenda my American Flag will be waving as it does every day along with my USMC Flag........I promised Marquis that I would wave the USMC Flag every day in honor of him and the rest of his Platoon!!!!!! I hope you both have a wonderful 3 day weekend!!!!!! Sure wish we were all closer so that we could BBQ together or something.......But oh well.....soon enough we will all get to meet!!!!! Thank you to each and every one of our Sevicemen and women, past, present and future for the sacrafices that you continue to make for this GREAT NATION!!!!!! Your sacrafice does not go unnnoticed!!!!!! Remembering each and every one of our fallen and still standing!!!!!!! Have a wonderful day and a great weekend ladies!!! Ooorraahhh Plt. 2166

"Fives, fours and a three..."  The targets they shoot at are human silhouettes in black.  Within the silhouette are area's ringed in white lines from the center of the chest (center mass) to the outer extremities (arms, hands).  Each of these areas carries a point value. A five is center mass or head shot. A four is the next area out from center mass and so fourth. The number of rounds shot into a specific area are added up and multiplied times the numeric value of that area. This is how they total their shooting score and qualify. The target can also be a circle with point values decreasing from the center out.  Here's a link with info on the quailification course:  http://www.usmcweapons.com/articles/m16/m16%20Qual/currentcourse/currentm16qual.html
