OFFLINE | When I was going to school, I always had the mindset that life is better if you're able to use what you've personally learned yourself, in the everyday world. When I dropped out of high school and obtained my GED, I seen it as an opportunity to do just that.
For the past five or six weeks, I've been studying to be a certified systems technician. I've already learned the essentials of a few of the common programming languages and am still learning most. I already know CSS and HTML, and a bit of PHP.
At the moment, I'm reading a guide book regarding ASP programming. ASP means "Active Server Pages". It was pretty much Microsoft's first server-side script-engine for dynamically-generated web pages. It wasn't necessarily on high demand until this year's release of ASP 3.0 being compatible with IIS 7.0 for Windows Server 2008. Which is still fairly new. The only con to learning ASP, is that you've got to know the specific programming and script languages because they need to be compatible with Microsoft's Active Scripting standards.
My next guide, will be on Programming: Flex *2. In laymen terms, I'll be learning to build web applications through Adobe Flex using their open source framework.
Are any of you active users of this application, teaching yourself anything? Share! |

OFFLINE | What you do is really inspiring. You can accomplish anything, if you want. For example, you can be a great programmer. My advise is that you focus something specific not everything. For example, not php, asp, c#, and asp.net. Choose one of them. For instance, mostly php is chosen as a programming language, and it is a great language. You may choose php & mysql. Also I would recommend Flash. It is the programming language of the future. |

OFFLINE | I've already got experience as a programmer. I've done some LUA scripting creating addons for World of Warcraft. I've also developed third-party programs and bots for people who like to hack on those illegal private servers. I've programmed them not to work on Blizzard's realms so people wouldn't be able to use them on there. :3
I'm not focusing on everything at once, as I am sure that's what you're referring to. Right now, I'm learning strictly ASP. But you can't help to learn another language in the process because as I've said in my original post, ASP requires a specific language that corresponds with it's Active Scripting standard. I've got multiple guides on different languages.
In today's economy, the more I learn, the higher chance I've got at receiving a job doing something that has a great income. It's also something I like to learn and do.

OFFLINE | I am going to school right now to learn all this stuff but I plan on learning as much as I can by myself before I start those classes. |
