Hi,

I have a friend who is not a Facebook user but their name is being included in posts by a Facebook user who is practically stalking him. The posts are on this users wall are are public. The only comeback my friend has is to email Facebook (support@facebook.com) to request what they can do. He has sent a number of emails to this address but there has been no response. He finds the organisation virtually unconctactable and therefore sees Facebook as shirking it's ethical responsibility and accountability for it's content.

I'd like to think that this is not the case. Can you let me know what his options are about making a formal complaint to Facebook about this user?

Thanks

I'm sorry sir but we really cannot help with this issue. There are only 2 things you can do, contact the person who has created the profile, or contact the facebook staff and get it removed.

thanks prateek. i have done both of these things.

i have contacted the person but that's a dead end, therefore the only avenue available i have is to  contact facebook. i have sent 5 emails over 2 weeks but facebook don't even seem interested in even acknowledging a reciept of my complaint, never mind acting on it. as facebook is the host, it communicates to me that facebook doesn't actually care enough about abuse to even warrant response. as far as i am concerned, this communicates that not only does facebook condone abuse but acts as an accomplice to it by actually providing a platform for people to do such things.

You can also report to your local police. They sure can help you, if they are willing to.

thanks for that prateek. it's a good suggestion and one that i am pursuing at the moment. however, i think it's a salient point that by me having to go to such an extent to talkto the police, i feel that facebook, in effect, have shirked the responsibility of owning the platform and delegated it the police. facebook has said, "it's too much hassle for us, we have one more member, one more stat, less man hours wasted in taking reponsibilty for abusive profiles, we can make our money from advertisers and charge the fallout to public services". it's a big "we really couldn't give a f*** about what's said about anyone on our site as long as we make our money".

I have a problem and can not locate the proper thread to ask my question so please forgive me. Someone has posted an offensive photo/video on his wall and I tried following the steps for reporting it but with no success. I clicked on the photo then looked for"Report This Photo" link that’s located in the bottom left corner but it is not there.. I clicked on the '"X" in the top right of the post but "Report as Abuse." is not there, it only says spam. re is nothing to click on.. nothing under the pic/video, nothing on it and when I click the X on the right side of it, it only says Spam. I also went to the page and scrolled down to the bottom of the left column and looked under the Likes list but the click the "Report Page" link. was also not there. When you click on the picture its actually a video in someones blog. Can "someone" advise please or tell me where to ask the question properly?

Fake accounts is the main reason of frustration.
