If you are new to airsoft or have been playing airsoft and never played mil-sim here is some basic info about what we are doing.

This paragraph is for new players to airsoft, so if you know what airsoft is, you can skip this paragraph, but if you have never played airsoft before, it is like paintball, but instead of shooting paintballs, you are shooting either a 6mm (most common), or a 8mm (very uncommon) plastic BBs.  Now unlike paintball, the BBs don't leave a mark, when a player feels that he has been hit, he calls himself out.  Now just like paintball, this is a sport of honor, were we expect people to be honest and call themselves out when hit.  Which we usually don't have a problem with this, but we do have marshals out there, that will kick players out if they are not calling their hits.  Now for a new player, you don't need much, mainly just safely glasses, which you can find out more on the gear page and the rules page, and a gun.  With how we are playing the mil-sim games, you don't need a high dollar gun to play, you could come out here with a Wal-Mart gun and still kick ass.  We focus on tactics in the game, not gear.  Now when you get more experiences, then getting a better gun is always a fun thing to do.  Cloth wise, starting out, you can pretty much wear anything you first game or two, but if you decide to continue to play, you will need to get some camo, with that will be explained in more detail in the gear section of the forum.

Now what kind of mil-sim are we playing here.  We are looking to play military or movie based scenarios, that try to stay as realist as possible.  We would like to get to the point were teams are divided by the kind of camo and gear that they are wear.  That way we don't have to use armbands to tell what side somebody is on, like in real life.  The games are going to be based of the use of tactics, not how many BBs your magazine can hold.  Some of the different missions that will played out in the scenarios will be recon, HVT (high value target), hostage rescue, VIP protection, demo, ambush, direct action.  Like in real life, intel is king, most missions you will need to find some kind of intel that will lead you to your next mission.  There will be all kinds of different way to get intel, some of them will be just searching the area that you are in (but always beware of booby traps), searching hit players, use of UAVs (yes we do have UAVs), are some of the ways to get intel.  Now also with our style of mil-sim, it isn't just about how many BBs you can put down range, in fact in some missions, if you end up shooting, you pretty much failed the mission.  This is also why we want to push people away from high cap mags, we will allow high caps, but players are only allow to carry one high cap, and they are not allowed to reload it out on a mission, they will need to come back to their base to reload that, we will cover that more in the rules section of the forum.  But you probably won't shoot more then a couple hundred BBs a mission, and most of the time a lot less then that.  In a all day scenario, a thousand or two BBs will be more then enough to last you all day.  We are out here to complete missions, not shoot a lot of BBs.

Once we have enough people, we will be running all day scenarios, were you will be out in the field the whole day, and one mission will run into another, you will have some kind of base or firebase that you will be running missions out of were you can keep your gear (extra ammo, food, etc) that you are not carry with you on a mission.  Most times after a mission you will come back to your base to go over intel that you got and plan the next mission, this is also a good time to reload.  Even though you are in-between mission and at your base, you are still in game play, and can be attacked, so even though you are at your base you still need to be on guard.  We will also be using all kinds of different props to add realism to the scenario, most props will be able to be interacted with, with some of them being able to be fired, like RPGs, which can be used to take out buildings, bunkers, and vehicles.  Computers and other electronics will be used in the scenarios also, for getting intel, sometimes you might find a memory stick on a hit player were you have to take it back to your base and plug it into a laptop to see what is on it.  But you also have to watch out for false intel.  This is a thinking man's game.  Look at our other topics to find out more about rules, gear, or other things.
