The forum took a bit of getting used to but it beats anything I have seen yet. The biggest pain is a link or a photo, but since we lost those in threads, what the hell? Now you can press Preview to see the blue link. close it and press Submit my topic
At this point you can invite friends, publish to your wall, or skip both...If you want to be notified of someone commenting scroll down the paste and click accordingly.
Now I have clicked Edit and will add a photos. click the little box 2 space left of smile and follow instructions.

Yes you can put links on here. This can do everything you can do on Facebook and far more. The little  characters are easy. When you are making a comment there is a smiley face above, click it and you will have a variety to choose from then click ok, The link is installed by clicking the link to the left of the smiley and the pasting your url in the white window and entering it. When you are here again let me know and I'll walk you through some techniques. Also when you are making a comment there is a SHARE clicker above that will post an invite to all on your window, or after you click REPLY you have the option of inviting friends to the site, and unlike with threads they have the option of declining. If they don't accept, they will not be notified when a comment is made. To invite friends scroll all the way to the top of this and click INVITE FRIENDS.

I entered Update my Post  and the above was a complete message, but if I click edit, which I did, I can now make changes in the message and I can do this at any time. To show you how this works I will go to the original message and edit it by adding your name to the beginning of it.
Another treat   is also at the top your can click Forum and go anywhere in Forum or click Last Threads to see who has last left a comment.

I am glad that you are becoming more comfortable with the forum. I do believe that it is the answer to many of the problems we have on facebook. I went to the threads before I came here and read that the censorship problems grow ever worse. It is possible that it could happen here but I don't think that it will. The majority of the forum is political and revealing the truth about Islam. While I am here I'll let you know about a few more things that will help you out.
but scroll up these posts and just below our thumb nail photo is the status, in stars,  of the person who left that comment. Like you are new at this, and you are in the Newbie category with no stars, but as you use it more and do different things that progresses to expert, and such. My Status is Demigod and 5 flashing stars, and there are still things that I am learning.
Below that is yet more info about who left the post...The date joined, how many posts the person has left, and how many topics posted. Below that is the Online/Offline feature. It is never visible in the window where you are posting, but shows in all older posts. With that I can tell if anyone is online or not.
One thing I never heard of on facebook is a user ID number, but we all have one.   Mine is   100000760123006      Yours is 100000999070366,    Linda's  1451770822. The only purpose that I have found for them, so far, is to assign a moderator to various rooms. I have just made you the moderator for the chatroom and if someone comes on here with a nasty comment, you or I will be able to delete it. That option is at the bottom of a post window. Naturally you can invite friends at any time.
i have also changed the name of this room from Chat Room to Discussion Room. That seems to be a more acceptable term around the internet.
PS...Glad you got the smiley guys working. I forgot to tell you that these features kick in after you click Update.
PPS...I was about to leave and noticed that your status has now changed. You are still a Newbie but it now tells everyone that you are a Moderator. So there!

I'm back. I kept thinking about what you said above about adding the smiley and it didn't work at first, and won't until Update is clicked but, if you want too see what the results of something looks like before you click Submit, click the Preview button and you will temporarily see the results.

Nice try Sharon, it took me a bit of practice to learn the trick. When you are posting, look to the left of Smiley at the little blue link, click it and then paste your link into the window that opens and then enter it.
