I use to live in Santa Fe, NM back in the early 70s to the mid 70s. I love the state and everything it has to offer. Our family has contributed a lot to the state in the past; for example.... My Great Great Grandfather was head of the Mormon Battalion in 1848. He conquest N. Mexico, part of Mexico and open the Southern Route into Southern Ca. Just south of Santa Fe, there is a monument dedicated to him and the Mormon Battalion.

Also, on his conquest, he named the 2nd highest Peak after himself and today it is called Cooke's Peak. His name was Philip St.George Cooke. Later he became a Brig. Gen. in the N. Army during the Civil War. His daughter Flora Cooke married JEB Stuart and his son John R. Cooke became a Brig. General for the South.

If you go to the Museum in Santa Fe, N.M. Myself and my late father and uncle donated many items which belonged to him. If you do not see them on display, ask to see them....
