Hi, all! Michelle Smith of 863furtography here! I opened my business about 3 months ago, and have been steadily trying to get things all put together.  Who knew so much work went into setting up a business??? LOL I'm learning hard and fast, and am always looking for new networking opportunities. In the mean time, I've been photographing for a few local rescues, and working my full time job!

Thanks so much for creating this group! Hopefully we can all help each other out, and I sincerely look forward to the networking with others!

Love that you are my first person to reply! Whew! Didn't know if this would be helpful at all! LOL. I have been steadily learning since 2005 - it takes patience and time to build a business and even then - there are times when I feel lost and like I have no clue what I am doing. What's your website, Michelle?

Hi Hi! My name is Dee ~ I am from DesMoines Wa. (Seattle)
When I was young I wanted to be a vet.....it was in the 80s....not a great time for furbabies ~ put him to sleep we are moving....put her to sleep she sheds etc. I found that I wanted to put people to sleep more than animals. With that said through a divorce and a single parent I became a adult babysitter yes....a bartender! I bar tended for over 25 years as well as my art ~ murals etc. I also taught art for Community Centers and after school programs.
I have retired from the bar and able to follow my passions. I have been bit with photography 3 years ago self taught, and now attending Community College to learn the skills.
I am very creative and a "fixer" meaning I love to find a way to "make it work" I LOVE think tanks in helping others bouncing ideas around! Even though we live in different areas the great internet can connect us! I so look forward to meeting everyone! ~ Dee

Jennifer - I do suppose the websites would help, eh?

Dee - It's nice to meet you, and love the backstory.  Mine is a lot simpler.  I've been a police officer for the past 11 years.  I'm a K9 handler, and love working with the dogs.  I love my profession, but photography has been an obsession (and stress reliever) for a number of years.  I have had quite a few people approach me along the way wanting photos of this and that, and frankly, if I'm not doing it for myself, I got tired of doing it for free.  (It's amazing how they no longer want all the pictures! lol)  Anyway, that's the story.  The end.  In the long term, I hope to build my photography business to the point that when I retire (in 9 more years), that I will have a good part time income.  (Yeah, I give myself a LOT of time to figure out the business side of things! LOL)

Thank you, Dee.  Photoshop is something I am currently still learning to use.  Embarrassingly, I JUST upgraded three months ago from PS7 to CS6.  HUGE difference in the upgrades! (Again...who knew??? lol)  Youtube and Google have certainly been my friends!  I would LOVE to take a class, but it doesn't work with my schedule.  Oh yeah, and graphic design is NOT my specialty, either.  I'm hoping someone with a lot of information will pipe up on here as well:-)

Do you have a website yet?

well.....lol....thats what I was going to school for taking dreamweaver and photoshop and I have the teacher from well hell soooooo I have in my mind a couple of things 1)I will pay for a simple one in the beginning and get er up there or 2) use something like homestead or weebly to get me going to afford something nicely done. I left class today in tears. So very very hard when you want something so badly and you pay 500 a class and I swear to you I dont know the first thing about dreamweaver. I have been in the tutoring lab almost everyday extra 4 hours.
