OFFLINE | One of the easiest ways to master the contextual reading aspect of
scoping is to read the transcript aloud.
Most of us adults will do everything to fight
this step. Even I did as a beginning scopist thinking "I'm a college graduate. Why do I need to read it aloud?"
I explain this in length on the "brain" page of the Joyful Scoping website:
http://www.joyfulscoping.com/brain.html.
I promise you will not have to do this task forever, but in order for new scopists to find success faster with less errors, this step cannot be
avoided.
Once you're scoping for a court reporter with good writing skills, you will likely be able to quit proofreading your work aloud when you find that
in that proofreading task, you are no longer finding errors.
Food for thought,
Devon
