Every speech is of course to be viewed within the context of the respective movie:

Charlie Chaplin! Love his work! also enjoyed the film biography made in 1992. We're Chaplin is played by Robert Downey jr. There is a  sceene in this movie where Chaplin is trying to convince his brother that films where the only sound you can hear is music are better then the films where people actually talk and it is indeed very convincing (//www.youtube.com/watch?v=HM-E8Z93Cto  the scene starts at 02:33) also I believe that The Great Dictator was the first movie with sound which he made (sadly enough with a lot of negative criticism at that time, thou Charlie himself said that once the Tramp had spoken the magic of the character would have been lost)...sorry I got a little carried away when I saw Chaplin.
