Do you have lawn edging in your yard? Is it made of metal? Do you have a dog? If you answered yes to all of these questions, then I highly encourage you to either remove it altogether, or to buy a special covering to fix to the top of the edging that protects unsuspecting feet from jagged corners.

Dogs that spend even a little time in a yard with metal edging are highly at risk to cut a paw (or multiple paws). All it takes is one mis-step, and you could wind up in the animal ER and paying for some stitches. How do I know? Because my own dog has done this - twice! It was hard to see him in pain, and hard on my bank account to pay for the trips to the vet. A large roll of the edging cover can be found at stores like Home Depot and only costs about 11 dollars. Preventing an accident is much less of a hassle and a stress in the long run. Do yourself and your dog a favor and protect his or her paws!

Thanks for posting this Becca!  What poor Gabe has gone through is miserable, I hope everybody thinks twice before purchasing metal edging if they have pets!
