I been watching a lot of shows about things than happened long ago which inspired this question. Anywho, I tend to see this question as something similar to wondering if I'd actually go back in time and do something differently, and I wouldn't.

But if I did go back and meet my ancestors, would it change my opinion of myself? I think, actually, it might.

So anywho, would you want to travel back in time to meet yer ancestors?

I would love to travel back in time to meet my ancestors. And, then I'd get to spend some time with my mom again.

I'm not so sure, giving the disposition of some of my relatives it's a scary thought. I like the past my parents have presented to me as my ancestral past, illusion or otherwise, could you imagine the expense of counselling should I discover I was actually purchased on the cheap from some travelling gypsies   ;-)

My dad and daughter, too.

Considering the majority (if not all), of my relatives came from Germany, I'd do so in a heartbeat!

Of course I'd have to time this for the month of Oktober!

Absolutely.... if I could find them!!

I spend a fair amount of time doing genealogy research....  mom's family has been fairly easy to track.... I can actually go back to the late 1500s with a few,,,,,

my dad's family has proved a bit tougher.... they moved a lot and changed the spelling of their name. I would love to find my gr gr grandfather.... so he could tell me who is parents are! and why they keep changing the spelling of their name!

I would! Can't guarantee I'd like them all...but I'd find it intriguing to see how many of my own character traits show up in my ancestors. I feel that to a certain extent, our past people helped to form who we are now.

And just think! Maybe one or two could teach me to ride a horse, beat a rug, & make moonshine!

I think that would be quite interesting....I often wonder how many talents and ideas that we have are passed down from the generations before us...

To go down a tangent, if you could go back to meet your ancestors, what would you tell them the world is like today?

ok, here's something crazy.... I was replying to a post from Boo.... saw a name that looked familiar.... she has on her friend's list a very distant cousin of mine...

small world!!

As to what I would tell my ancestors.... I would tell them that our world is 100 times better, and at the same time 100 times worse. For instance.... medical technology can improve the quality of life- or make you live forever as a vegetable.

You can shop without leaving your home, but that only helps you spend more money.

We have too much "stuff" and yet never enough.

And sometimes I think we have come so far we are going backwards.
