OFFLINE | YAY for Stevens mom making reservations too!!!!!!! Amanda my family and I are staying on the base in Billeting which is the base housing......Brenda and her family are doing the same....Marquis was pretty adament about us staying on the base so I figured I would do him that honor!!!!! Plus it is way cheaper than a Hotel.........it is only $50 a night for up to 8 people......so $100 for both nights.....Much more doable with our income and how expensive this trip is going to be!!!! Also we will be right there so we don't have to fight with the gate each morning!!!!!! I have never heard of the Whiskey Pig!!!!!! Very interesting name!!!!!!!! : :......I hope you have a great Monday as well and lets hope for some letters this week from our guys!!!!! Oorraahh Plt. 2166~ |

OFFLINE | My son is leaving for SD on June 20th and should graduate on Sept 16.
As far as staying on base at the Billetting, can you stay there on the Wednesday night before Family Day?
I was confused when I was reading the regulations online.
I have been lurking on this forum as one had not been started for Bravo Company ( which he should be in) and I had so many questions.
Thank you all for the posts, it has so eased my mind. |

OFFLINE | Kristine, your welcome and feel free to come in here and join us or ask any question you want to!!!!!!! By the time your son gets there you'll know every answer to every question from this platoon!!!!!! : :.........YES you can stay on the Base the Wednesday before Family Day....I was told today that check in as after 4pm on that Wednesday......and depending on when you are leaving Friday or Saturday your check out will be at 12 noon the day you plan to leave.....they say that you can stay from Wednesday to Saturday......We of course are getting out of dodge on Friday right after graduation.......Thinking my son wants to get as far away from the base as possible!!!!! LOL.....With regards to your Bravo Co. forum...it should be up the week that your son leaves for BC......If not as Karin said keep bugging them and they will get it up there for you!!!!!! Congratulations to you and your son and good luck......it starts out a bit rough, but once you get your Form letter after about 2 to 2.5 weeks and then get mail from your son it goes by a little faster......You will become BEST FRIENDS with the mailman/woman......and you will wish for mail like you never have before!!!!!! : :.....but if you can find friends as I have in here it definitely makes the time go by so much faster and you can share letters and news with one another!!!!!! It really is pretty awesome and one of the few things that has kept me sane over the last 2 months!!!!!!! Good luck again Kristine!!!!!!! |

 OFFLINE | April and Karen,
Thank you so much for raising such fine young men!
I also would like to know once you settle down from graduation, what you did on family day. Are you planning on taking anything to your boys?
I don't know if we will leave on Friday after graduation or if we will hang out until Saturday. San Diego is beautiful I hear and would love to explore a little. I am sure it will depend on our son and what he wants to do.
I am sure first thing on his mind will be food.
Thanks again for everything, I sure have enjoyed reading your posts.

OFFLINE | Kristine, I havent decided wether or not I am taking anything for Marquis as of yet......Im thinking I will probably take some "goodies" for him though.........What I do know is that I am bringing him some extra clothes, his cel phone, his MP3 player, his watch, and anything else that he asks me to bring....I haven't gotten that list just yet!!!!!! Im sure it will be coming soon though.......I will be amking him a few CD's to listen to on the way home as they haven't heard music in forever.......and of course per my sons ORDERS.......We have to STOP AT EVERY DAMN RESTAURANT on the way home!!!!!!! : :........Im pretty sure Family Day is going to be a lot of walking as Marquis has already stated that he wants to give us the GRAND TOUR of the Base........then hopefully we will be able to just sit down and talk with him for awhile!!!!! I will be sure to let you know when all is said and done, how it went, what we did and any suggestions that I might have for you!!!!!!! All I can tell you right now,is to ENJOY YOUR SON every moment you can right now...as it is going to feel like an eternity until you see him again!!!!!!!!! Also....THANK YOU for raising a fine young man willing to give his all for our country!!!!!~ Oorraahh Plt. 2166 |

OFFLINE | Kristine when my son went in, he wanted to stay the weekend after graduation and do Disneyland w/us and his gf, now he wants to be home, in his civies by 3 p.m.! our flight doesn't leave until 6! He wants to take one of his soon-to-be Marine buddies to In N Out after graduation since they don't have them in his buddy's home state of Nebraska. While he has given me a long list of food requirements, it's all my cooking, no fast food, tho' I'm sure he'll wolf down a few dozen double-double's animal style.
I'm sure I'll take a few requested items for him with us Thursday. I can't wait to see him! |

OFFLINE | Karin, funny that you talk about his marine buddy from Nebraska and In N Out Burger.
We are oringinally from Nebraska and no they don't have In N Out Burger.
My son has also said that we will prbably have to stop every chance to get him food once we head back home.
We currently live in Phoenix.
Apryl, I am enjoying every minute of my son still being home. I really have no desire to share him with anyone. I surprised him and myself when I agreed to him and his GF going to Six Flags for an overnight trip.
I so appreciate you letting me know how family day goes. I am planning on taking snacks to him and I will definitely have to take his wranglers and his cowboy boots. I just may be so selfish that I don't take his cellphone so that I have his undivided attention. (bad Mom).
Have a great day!

OFFLINE | I think we're all going to see each other at the closest In N Out! I know my son has lost 18 pounds, and he was at his required weight when he went in. I'm sure he'll probably drop another few pounds. His recruiter said, once they drop 20 lbs they get to go back for seconds.
Apryl, too funny about Marquis's long list to cram into 10 days! The last thing their DI's tell them before they leave is, "Don't get fat!"
Right! If I cook the way my son wants, we're all going to get fat! Hopefully they will be running off mama's home cooked calories.

OFFLINE | Aaron has written that he has lost only about 8lbs. His face has thinned but he said he has put on some muscle mass. I bet they are loving the chow this week at CP! I will have most of Aaron's desired foods stocked up in the motorhome and once home he will be hitting Casa Ole' Mexican Cantina, Dynasty & Summer Palace, both Chinese Restaurants. He has requested my morning breakfasts'. Meg is going to buy him some jeans once we find out his size. Getting closer ya'll, it won't be long!! |
