His death was the hardest for me to write. I knew several important people had to die, but I knew we couldn't handle Marcello, Gabi, Lia or Luca being one of them. So inevitably, it had to be poor Lord Greco. I know he has some serious fans out there. How did you handle his death? How'd you feel about how he died?

I loved Lord Greco but he was irritating me in this book - all the need to know. I spent some time questioning if it really was because of his wife that he needed to know or if he maybe was turning back to the Fiorntini. In the end I was sad and surprised he passed away. I was not at all surprised that Dad died (again) but was that Mom didn't.

Interesting, Robyn! I never thought about the Fiorentini angle. :-) And Anna, I'm sorry! Knew it would hurt all of us who loved Rodolfo...

I cried. I actually really liked Lord Greco... Yes, he was rather annoying when he was in love with Gabi, but it was at the same time rather endearing. His death wasn't unexpected, though. I actually thought that maybe both Greco and Alessandra were going to perish from the plague. It was a twist that Greco did not die from the plague but from the sword.

It was sad of course, but I was never a huge Greco fan. I always had a little trouble fully trusting him. And yeah, I did wonder at his motives in needing to know everything as well. Though, I do get that anyone would want to know if something was going to cause danger to themselves, married or not.

I too kind of expected Ben to die.

It's okay! I truly understand why it had to be. This was a dark part of history, and there were so many random deaths.

As much as my hunch was telling me that he wasn't going to make it (and he eventually didn't *cue sad face*), I actually wanted Alessandra to have gone instead... and that's not because I didn't like her! My goodness, I adored her! I just thought that it would have been a good angle to have one of the guys mourn for someone they love. The girls had had their fair share of grieving for their men, I reckon!

Either way though, it killed me. Thanks for this great series, Lisa!

ps. Are we hearing anything from Giulio and Tiliani in the future or what?

I, for one, was pretty shocked that Rodolfo died. And what shocked me even more was that I found out, as he lay there dying, that I actually loved him a little. I thought all along, "I don't trust this guy," and, "I'll never get over some of the things he's done," but when he died I really realized how much I cared for him.

All of the deaths were painful for me. I had a tiny feeling that Dad would go, but I was devastated when Tomas died (he was my #3 favorite character in the series, right behind Gabi and Marcello) and when Rodolfo (a close #4) was killed. Especially since it was by sword, not ailment!

I have to admit that everything from the start of Part 3 on was hard for me to handle, but it was worth it. Thank you for writing this series, Lisa. It has touched me in so many ways.

Lord Greco dying didn't bother me as much as Ben (dad) dying, again.  That part really broke me heart.  I was reading it and crying and my boyfriend was like "What is wrong?!?!" and I pointed at the book and he just gave me a weird look and said "Ok."  LOL

Honestly I didn't ever really like Rodolfo but in Deluge it was almost refreshing to read about his life and Alessandra's. I never expected him to die though!! It's so sad for me because Rodolfo and Ali had lots of rough patches and heartbreak until they found each other and now he's gone ((

I was sad but me and my friends never really liked him that much so I didn't cry, mainly because it was such a shock. I cried a bit when the dad died. But the bit that gets me bauling every time is when Lia draws all those pictures, I dont know why but it always opens the floodgates
