I never thought that I would be so excited for the mailman to come and deliver mail in all my life!!!!!! I had been on the phone this past Saturday and my husband had been in the yard doing yard work......He comes in and tells me..."The PG&E Bill came" with a funny smile on his face...and then proceeds to hand me 2 letters adressed to me from my son!!!! I can tell you I screeched so loud and could not contain my joy!!!!!! YES YES I was elated!!!!! I had finally heard from my son!!!!!! I could finaly breathe, I could relax, I could take a deep breath and maybe even get some sleep now.......The words on those letters were some of the most welcome words!!!!! Of course I had also been waiting for the letters so that I could then send my son the letters and items that we had prepared for him......So this was just a double joy for me as I could finaly be in contact with HIM as well as HE being in contact with me.....
So over all my son is happy and enjoying Boot Camp!!!! He loves the drills with Rifles, He loved MCMAP, and he has 3 jobs that he is definately ok with.....He is a House Mouse, which means he has to clean his DI's office when the cleaning is done...He is a PRAT Recruit, which means he has to make sure all the Recruits know their "KNOWLEDGE", and he is a WarBag Recruit which means he also gets his DI's WarBag ready....Not a Guide or a Squad Leader yet but he is allright with that as of now....He says that the food is "ok" but definatly not "HOME"....He finds that  when he writes he misses us more and during the week tries very hard to just stay focused on his responsibilities etc so as not to miss us all too much.....The first Sunday that he was there
(4-17) he went to Church and said that it was a WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE for him.....I was so touched at this and for sure know that he is doing alright and adjusting well......I can't wait until he receives our letter package and knows yet again how very proud of him we are and that we support him 1000%.....
I can honestly say that "hearing" from him has settled my nerves so much!!!!! I still miss him terribly but know he is in great hands and taking full advantage of MCRD!!!!!!! Until we meet again, Oorraahh!!!~

Thank you Karin!!!!!! I have to say that those 2 letters where some of the most sooothing words I have heard in so long!!!!! As I said I can't believe how much I have anticiapted the mail coming over the last few weeks!!!!! Especially after not hearing from him during receivng!!! A Mom worries.....regardless of him being in the hands of marines or not we still worry and want to make sure that our sons and or daughters are doing alright!!!!!! And YES my son sounds as if he is doing well and adjusting to RECRUITER life as well as he can be....I know that it is just as much of an adjustment for them as it is for us!!!! But in a different capacity for sure.....I also know that letters that they receive from home mean so very much to them so I can't wait until he finally gets his from us!!!!! I hope you have a WONDERFUL Day Karin!!!!!! =)

Apryl, I do believe our son shares a rack with your son. In his letter he mentioned he was becoming good friends with a guy with your last name (R). He also went to church that first Sunday which I'm pleased with. Our son is also a PRAT recruit &  said he went from 2nd Squad leader to 4th Squad leader and stands behind the DI. Thats good except if any recruits mess up it falls on him, but he can deal will that. We have alot to look forward to and cannot wait until July 8th!

Brenda that is awesome if our sons are in the same rack.....My son never mentioned anyones names in his letter but did state that he was meeting some pretty cool guys so I hope your son is one of them!!!!! =)) I was so happy that he had mentioned going to church as well!!!!! It brought tears to my eyes!!! How awesome that we can connect like this....Let me tell you it makes it so much easier to know that there are other parents out there that are feeling the same as I am.....In my first post on this forum I talked about how much I missed him and how I missed his "call" during receiving....that was so hard for me.....him being unable to call and us expecting it... But now that I have heard from him in writing I am feeling a little better!!!! Also Brenda awesome that your son has already made 4th Squad Leader.....Must be hard to keep those positions......at least that is what I have heard from a PFC that had graduated from MCRD....YES lets hope the squad can maintain so your son doesn't take the heat for it......LOL......That would probably make him very mad....Yes so much to look forward to and I cannot wait until July gets here!!!!!!! =) Oorraahhh!!!~
