There are many forms of meditation.

Traditional methods include; concentration and contemplation; using breathing patterns; repeating mantras; the Whirling Dervishes use dance; exponents of T'ai Chi use slow, flowing movement.

All of these are perfectly valid meditation techniques and it is impossible to say that any one is better than the others.

Using a Meditation Machine is a modern form of meditation and is also perfectly valid, and no better or worse than the more traditional methods.

Let me explain by looking at two other traditional meditation techniques.

First, some people find the beating of a drum helps them to meditate. And second, some people find that staring at the light of a candle takes them to a deep level of mind.

Well, a Meditation Machine uses light and sound as well. The light and sound happen to be produced by a machine powered by batteries. But the sound is no less natural than that produced by a beating drum.  And the light is no less natural than that produced by a candle. In other words, it is no different in essence to these more traditional methods.

I've heard some people say that using a Meditation Machine is not a 'pure' form of meditation because it's an electronic aid.

But if you think about it, this is irrational. It shouldn't matter about the form of an aid that helps you to meditate. If it helps you to meditate, than surely it's a good thing.

I've no doubt that thousands of years ago, some people derided the use of drums, candle and mandelas as new-fangled and therefore inappropriate to use as meditation aids !

Finally, here's a quote from the Dalai Lama, who himself takes a great interest in modern technology.

"We have reached a watershed; an intersection where Buddhism and modern science become mutually enriching, with huge practical benefit for human well-being.

I believe that Meditation Machines are an example of that intersection and can bring great improvements to the lives and well-being of many people.
