Missing:  November 2, 2016

A California mother-of-two, who went missing during an afternoon jog last week, is believed to have been abducted.  Police found Sherri Papini's cell phone along a jogging trail which sparked fears that she was abducted, her family members told authorities.  The 34-year-old was last seen jogging in the Old Oregon Trail and Sunrise Drive area around 2pm on Wednesday, according to the Ventura County Star. Before her routine jog, Papini texted her husband, Keith Papini, and asked him if he was coming home for lunch, her sister Sheila Koester told the Star.  Koester told the Star that Papini's husband replied that he wasn't.   Upon his return home from work, no one was home.  He then used his Find My iPhone app and located his wife's phone near the intersection of Old Oregon Trail and Sunrise Drive in Redding, according to a GoFundMe account set up to aid in finding Papini safely.
Her husband was also unable to locate their two children, whom he later discovered had not been picked up from daycare. Her sister said that Papini usually picks up the couple's two children and jogs in the afternoons.  Koester told KRCR TV that Papini loved her children and she would not just leave them at daycare.  "She wouldn't leave her babies," Koester said.
"There is no way she would do anything to disrupt her children's routine," Keith's sister, Suzanne Papini added.  Keith then called 911 to report his wife missing around 5.51pm, police said. Source:  dailymail

REDDING, Calif. - After combing through surveillance video, the Shasta County Sheriff's office says there has been no sign of missing Shasta County mom, Sherri Papini since she vanished on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 while out for a run in the Mountain Gate area.
According to Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosenko, law enforcement has been going through surveillance footage from homes and businesses in the area where Papini disappeared. Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit are helping to sort through the approximately 150 tips that have come in, according to a news release sent after 5 p.m. Monday.
The Sheriff's Office is using resources from the Redding Police Department, as well as from the Department of Justice and continues to keep close contact with the Papini family.
Papini's disappearance has gone global. Sheriff Tom Bosenko was interviewed about the case on CNN's Headline News Monday night and Papini's story has been featured on Good Morning America, World News Tonight, and in The Guardian.
Sherri was reported missing after her husband came home to an empty house. Keith Papini was used to having his two young kids and wife greet him at the door after work, so he was concerned when there was no one home that night. Keith later found his two kids were still at daycare. He used Apple's "Find My iPhone" app to locate Sherri's phone, discarded on the ground along the route she normally went running in the afternoon. Sheriff Bosenko said strands of Papini's long blonde hair, and her phone earbuds were also found. Her driver license, credit cards and cash were all left at home.
Search teams combed the area all weekend, but turned up nothing to help them find the missing woman.
Sherri is white, with blonde hair and blue eyes. She weighs 100 lbs. and is 5'4". She was last seen wearing a pink and black running outfit. If anyone has information on Sherri Papini’s whereabouts they can call dispatch 24 hours a day at 530-245-6540, or the Major Crimes Unit at 530-245-6135. Tips can also be submitted to mcu@co.shasta.ca.us.

SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. - The Shasta County Sheriff's Office said Keith Papini, Sherri Papini's husband, is not a person of interest in the disappearance of his wife and is being cooperative in the investigation.
In a press release, released Wednesday afternoon, Lieutenant Anthony Bertain said the Shasta County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes is continuing to actively investigate the suspicious disappearance of Sherri Papini, which occurred on Wednesday, November 2.
Bertain added the Sheriff's Office has received over 200 tips regarding her disappearance.
Bertain said Keith Papini continues to be cooperative in the investigation and is not a person of interest in the disappearance of his wife. Keith has talked with detectives on several occasions since he reported his wife missing one week ago.
On Monday, Keith Papini submitted to a polygraph examination. The results of the polygraph examination indicate he has no involvement with the disappearance of his wife. Sheriff's Office Detectives have confirmed his whereabouts on the day in question and there is no physical evidence at this time suggesting he had any involvement.
Sheriff's Office Detectives continue to follow up on the tips which have been received. Detectives are also reviewing surveillance video received from the area, information received from cell phone data and email accounts via authorized search warrants.
Detectives are still trying to determine if her disappearance is voluntary of involuntary.

It was Keith's revelation Ms Papini had been “branded, and I could feel the rise of her scabs under my fingers” that appears to have caused police the most consternation.

“There’s some unique information in there that was in his press release today that we were hoping to keep a tight rein on as far as what we were going to release to the public,” Head of Investigations at the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, Lieutenant Anthony Bertain, said.

“It’s not the first hurdle in this investigation that we’ve had, we’ve overcome many of them, not just in this case, but there’s surprises in all investigations, so this just wasn’t good timing.
