OFFLINE | since i feel that america thinks of itself as a God fearing country, why are we so unable to lable someone EVIL? i'm thinkinking of the guy in tucson...the 21 year old in virginia that shot a 7 month old baby, the doctor in philly that killed all those babies...i could go on and on. i am tired of these people getting labled as bi-polar or schitzophrinc(sp). do you believe that someone can be EVIL? |

OFFLINE | in short, yes. however, the america of today is far from god-fearing. it's more hedonistic than anything else. but i think the real reason behind this, is that nobody is seen as being responsible for what they do now. i don't know if it's this idea of collective salvation or what, but when someone does something wrong now, they are just viewed as a victim of society. |

OFFLINE | Yeah...we're considered a "Christian Nation" (despite what Obama says). But that doesnt mean we're a God-fearing nation. But I understand I think what you meant.
And yeah...that guy was evil! |

OFFLINE | i think that in a way, with all of our technological advancements made over the last century, that humanity has kind of become full of itself. for the most part, (natural disasters aside) we aren't subject to the same outside forces that our ancestors were subjected to on a daily basis. in a way, we have become the creator, and we've molded to world in our own image. i suspect that this has played into what's been talked about in this thread. so while we've made great strides in terms of equality and fairness, i don't think our sense of personal ethics have kept the pace. as we often do, i think we've taken many things too far, and have mainly become complacent, and jaded. instead of looking to ourselves, we look to society as a whole. |
