Step 1. Set your phone as “Charge Only”.
Step 2. Make sure USB Debugging is checked on under Settings->Applications->Development.
Step 3. Connect your phone to your computer via USB Cable.
Step 4. For Windows, you need to install Motorola drivers.

How to Root Droid Bionic!

If you want to run rooted apps such as Titanium backup (to backup/restore your apps), you can root your Motorola Droid Bionic using Pete’s one-click tool.
Here’s how to root the Motorola Droid Bionic, these instructions are for Windows computers, click here for rooting guide for Linux and Mac.
Step 1. Set your phone as “Charge Only”.
Step 2. Make sure USB Debugging is checked on under Settings->Applications->Development.
Step 3. Connect your phone to your computer via USB Cable.
Step 4. For Windows, you need to install Motorola drivers.
Download drivers here:

As you can see in above screenshot, you can double-check your drivers are installed correctly by opening up Device Manager in Control Panel. You should get Mot Composite ADB Interface under Android USB Devices or something very similar to that.
Step 5. Download Pete’s Motorola Root Tools here:
Download droidbionicroot.zip
Step 6. Unzip Pete’s tools and run the file Pete’s Motorola Root Tools.exe.
Step 7. Click on “Root My Phone” to start the Droid Bionic rooting process.
Step 8. You should get a successful rooted

Install Clockworkmod Recovery.

Then you will need to install the apk, and there install bootstrap recovery. Bam There you go you are ready to install roms, mods and w.e. floats your boat.
