- IS YOUR NEWS FEED FILLED WITH RANDOM ABCD LEEDS POSTS
1. What does Bump mean?
- It is simply "bumps" the item to the top of the page so that it will be seen. Imagine it standing for "Bring Up My Post"
- You do not have to say bump, it can be any comment, but this is the word which has become the norm.
- You may bump each item a maximum of 5 times per day, and you will have more of your items seen if you bump the album not the post because this shows you have more images to be seen! If you only bump the individual item people will simply scroll past it not knowing you have more to offer.
- You can only bump a maximum of 4 items at one time. Please leave atleast 10 minutes before bumping another 4 items.
2. What does SSTC mean?
- It means the item is Sold, Subject To Collection. (or Delivery)
- There is a chance the sale could still fall through so if you are interested in the item you may say so, but the original buyer gets first priority because the sale was already agreed with them.
3. Why do people keep telling me to check my other messages?
- When you send/receive a message from someone who isn't on your friends list, the first one almost always goes into the "other" folder. Most people are never aware of this folder until they are specifically told about it as you will not receive a notification when a messages goes into it.
- On the Computer, click "messages" from the menu on the left of the page (not from the icon at the top). Then whilst messages are open you will see your "other" folder directly below the "messages" you just clicked.
- On the Phone, click the top left icon which looks like 3 lines. Then choose "messages" from the menu on the left (not from the icon at the top). Then whilst messages are open the "other" folder will now be a tab at the bottom of your screen, alongside "archive". (please note, facebook's mobile applications vary widely, and update regularly, therefore this option may change)
4. How do I find my old posts?
There are a number of different ways, and it depends what device you are using to find them. When on the computer you have the following options (please note that with recent updates I have not had the opportunity to update these photos)...
- Type your name into the search box on the top right of the page. This will list all previous posts. To find the search box, click the magnifying glass icon in the far top right corner.
-
- The results will look something like this:
- Or you can search through the photo's. This is easiest if you have them all in an album as they are not scattered everywhere. Click the "photos" link here:
- Now scroll through the list of albums and click on your own. It will be easier to find if you have renamed it, rather than keeping the Auto name.
- If your photo is posted to our wall rather than in an album you will have a LOT of scrolling to do before you reach those photos, which is one of the reasons we ask you to put them in an album. The newest albums are always at the top of the page, and ALL albums are above the wall photos.
- Once you have created your album, go to it, then bookmark that page! Then you can instantly return to your album any time you like. You can also add and remove photos from it when needed.Never loose another post again!!
- With the new Timeline there is a button to show your "Activity Feed". If you click this it will list all of your recent activity on facebook, and make finding your posts faster and far easier.
ON A MOBILE DEVICE:
- When you upload your item, Bookmark that page so that you can find it instantly later. If you arent sure how to bookmark on your mobile device check google or your user guide.
- Or Go to your personal facebook profile, Drag the "Photos" thumbnail as far to the left as you can, and click "Activity Feed". This lists your recent activity under each day and will make finding your items on your mobile device so much simpler!
5. How can I leave feedback for someone?
Thank you for trading on A-B-C-D Leeds.
We want you to have the best experience possible, and that is why we have created a feedback Document thanks to a suggestion from one of our loyal traders.
If you have a positive, or a negative experience when dealing with people on our group then we want to know.
- When on a computer, click the "About" tab at the top of the group page. Then choose the correct link to the google form and answer a few simple questions which will take no more than 2 minutes.
- When on a mobile device you will need to make a post asking someone to either bump the feedback for you (via the "Files" tab at the top of the computer page) or ask them for the link. You will then be taken to the same feedback form, but a lighter, mobile friendly version.
- Alternatively, here is that google link... https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dHdLeFBseVBXZkpjWk9mUzg3cGkwbVE6MQ
6. How do I see the feedback which people have already left?
If you want to have a look through the feedback which has already been left for others (or maybe someone told you they left some for you), you can do this a couple of ways...
- You can view the feedback by clicking the "Files" tab at the top of the page (On the computer) and selecting the "Buyer / Seller Feedback" Doc. Feedback is listed Alphabetically by Surname.
- After you use the feedback form to leave someone else feedback, it will show a thank you page with a link saying "Optional: See previous responses". if you click there you will see the pie and bar charts with the general feedback along with some of the comments, but this can sometimes be a little confusing.
- If you are on a mobile device then ask someone to bump the doc for you. When you see the post, it will say "Sindi Dolan edited a doc" at the top of that post. Click "doc" and that will take you to the same feedback list, alphabetically by Surname.
7. What details should I put into my post?
When you list an item for sale, you should try to add all the detail you can to prevent too many questions. The more questions they have to ask, the longer it will take before they know whether they want the item. If each question takes an hour to respond (because you aren't sat at the computer) then you will loose potential sales. The very first things that people always ask are:
- Have you got a picture?
- How much does it cost?
- Where are you?
- Can you deliver?
If you have already answered these questions before they get the chance to ask then you will waste less time weeding out the people who wouldnt be interested due to budget or distance etc. Unfortunately you will still get a few people asking those questions even after you have provided the information because some people cant be bothered looking, but the majority will appreciate the effort and lack of time being wasted.
8. How do I add my description to the post instead of as a comment?
There are a couple of ways to do this and they are as follows...
- If you are uploading from a computer, as each picture loads into the system it will have a box below it for you to add a description to. This is the step after choosing your files, but before clicking "post".
- If you have already posted your pictures, and are using a computer, click to open the viewing window for your image, then on the white area to the right of the image (near the top) click "edit" or "add description". Add description will only be there if you have not previously added a description.
- If you are posting via a mobile device you must add the description at the time of uploading. You may add a description later via a computer, but this cannot be done on the actual mobile device.
9. Buying / Selling Checklist.
BUYING:
- Ask to see a photo of the item if one is not provided so that you are certain it is the right thing.
- Ask the seller as many questions as you like before committing to purchase. If the seller is a good seller they will be happy to answer all your questions to make sure you are completely happy before the sale
- Ask for Measurements so you don't get the item home and it doesn't fit.
- Check the price! take a few minutes to google the item and find out what price they are selling for elsewhere.
- Don't send cash or postal orders in the post and when using Paypal do not send as "gift". If asked to do so please inform Admin of the seller as they are likely to take your money and never send your item! Don't forget this is a Leeds group, so why can't they meet you?
- CHECK YOUR ITEM before you walk away! Mistakes cannot always be rectified later so make sure you are completely happy before you leave.
SELLING:
- Always add a photo
- Respond to buyer questions quickly and politely
- Do a little research before you list! Are other people selling the same item n the group for less? What does Google say is the going rate?
- Do not ask for "Offers" if you have a price in mind. And when asking for x-amount or nearest offerdont be offended when people dont offer what you are hoping for. Politely decline the offer and wait for a better one to come along.
- Remember that buyers are looking for a bargain, they will knock you down from the original price you ask, so if it isnt a fixed price, consider starting slightly higher than you expect to get.
10. TAGGING
- Need to get someones attention? Tried tagging but it wont work? Many members tags don't initially work, but if you tag, post your comment, and then EDIT that comment, and create the same tag again in the same comment... 90% of the time this WORKS ... though not always unfortunately, and mobiles still wont have this function.
- If you need to tag someone via a mobile, you cannot do it in a comment, but you CAN do it in a new post. So go to the top of the page and start a new post, and write the members name.
- Writing the word "Admin" will never attract the attention of an admin immediately like it would if you had tagged the admin's name instead. The full list of Admin names can be found on the banner, and also in a document int he files tab named "Admin".
