| Faye is one of 2 horses that I am proud to have in my life. Faye was my first. When I moved to Colorado from Canada 8 years ago I decided that this would be a great time start riding horses again. I got a job working at a ranch in Penrose, Colorado with horses. I fell in love with this 2 year old beautiful foal named Faye.
I asked the owner if she was for sale. Unfortunately, he said that she was not. In the months to follow I spent time just getting to know her. Grooming, playing and breaking her to ride.
One day when I went out to the ranch to work and visit Faye. I called her name and she did not come to say hi as she usually did. She was laying down in the pasture. She had a sad look in her eyes and just was not right. She would not get up and did not want to eat. I called the vet immediately and he came to evaluate what was wrong. Well, she had "strangles" an equine virus that attacks young and old horses mainly. She was very sick. He informed me that she may not make it through and that she would need alot of medical attention daily and care. I was up for the challenge. After weeks of hand feeding, medicating and love she was on the mend. The owner could see the bond we had developed and decided to sell her to me.
Over the past 8 years we have grown closer. Now we compete in dressage and endurance and loving every moment together.
The picture below is a competition we won for dressage a few weeks ago.
