A: Beginning January 01, 2012 all non-emergency consular services (additional visa pages, regular passport services, consular report of birth abroad, notarial services and other services) will require an appointment. Appointments will typically be made for 8:30am and between 01:00pm – 03:00pm Monday – Thursday. The Embassy is closed on U.S. and Vietnamese holidays. Visit the Embassy website http://vietnam.usembassy.gov/holidays.html for specific dates.

A: You can register your presence in Vietnam by enrolling online at anytime in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) at http://vietnam.usembassy.gov/registration.html. STEP is a free service provided by the U.S. government to U.S. citizens who are traveling to, or living in a foreign country. You can also download our free Smart Traveler App, available through iTunes and the Android market, to have travel information at your fingertips.

A: We cannot act as legal or medical advisers. Please consult the U.S. Citizen Services section of our website at http://vietnam.usembassy.gov/acs_specialservices.html for medical/legal resources in Vietnam.
Q: My father and my brother are traveling in Vietnam. They used to send us an email every day but we haven’t received their emails for the last 3 days. Can Embassy help us to locate them?
A: Please provide us with any information you have regarding their trip in Vietnam. We need to know their names, DOB, POB and U.S. passport numbers. We also want any information regarding their itinerary, names of hotels, travel agencies... or any contact in Vietnam. Please let us know your name, telephone numbers and email address so we can contact you.
Q: I lost my credit card. I contacted my bank for a replacement. Can I have my new credit card mailed to the Embassy and I’ll pick it up at your office?
A: The Embassy cannot receive/send any documents/packages for any individual American. We can only receive/send official documents/packages. You should make arrangements with your hotel/office for the package can be delivered there for you.
Q: I lost my green card. Where should I contact for a replacement?
A: You need to come to the ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) office at 8th floor, Diamond Plaza, 34 Le Duan Street, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City for information. This office is open to the public from 09:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday and Thursday every week (except for U.S. and Vietnamese holidays). You will need to come in person for instructions and information. The U.S. Embassy in Hanoi does not handle this issue.
