I made this forum for general thoughtful discussion, so that we can formulate and share our thoughts over time.  (Written communication avoids the time constraints of meetings and allows people in a discussion to digest others' thoughts at their own pace.)

Please "listen before speaking" -- understand others' posts before you contribute.

And feel free to let me know if there are problems with the forum, and to invite others who attended the meeting.  Facebook might not be ideal for all to participate, in which case I can move this to an independent forum site.

I think it's a good thing that more people are getting actively involved in whatever it is we have going forward (student government of some kind).  Because students are so pressed for time, it's *generally* good to divide the various event-planning and execution tasks among more than a few people.

Thank you Tom for setting this up. I would just like to add that I think we should discuss the ideal way that the two programs should be combined rather than stating what we didn't like about any of the proposals on Monday.

I think it is fairly obvious that the admin want a single group and I highly doubt we will be able to prevent this. Even if we wanted to or are even able to prevent this at this point, over time change will happen. We need to be constructive and deliberate about how to restructure the programs so that we actually have a say. We are over 40 people who go to CMS and know how things are best done. Let's not focus on titles, but rather how CMS students can work together to give both the class and houses a voice. This is something we need to be unified on.

Things that need to be discussed are social aspects, wellness, peer mentoring, relationship with ESC, relationship with the deans, relationship with the student dean, funding, registrations, types of student meetings, academics, and any other pertinent topics.

Brett, I respectfully disagree.  I think honest but (again, respectful/courteous) expression and discussion of any opinion or topic (related to CMS student leadership) is good.  If differing opinions exist, they should not be silenced, but understood and thought out.
