Yup.  Caused by 2 things.  Devaluing the dollar, and the riots in the middle east and N. Africa.

$3.30 / gallon here right now.  And summer's on its way.

Yeah, food prices will skyrocket because of shipping costs as well as the cost to make plastics (which are petroleum goods).

Obama needs to lift the restrictions on offshore drilling first and foremost.  Of course...are the oil rigs still there?  Probably not.   But we have anb estimated 86 billion barrels of oil and over 400 trillion cubic feet of natural gas just offshore.  We have billions more barrels of oil onshore, plus an estimated 400 trillion barrels locked away in shale in the Rocky Mountains.  Colorado, Utah and Wyoming have about 800 billion barrels of oil we're just sitting on...three times what Saudi Arabia has.  We have exponentially more locked away in ice!  Roughly 300,000 trillion cubic feet of natural gas.

But our Federal law bans drilling it.  How stupid is it for us to allow ourselves to be blackmailed by energy dictatorships like Saudi Arabia, Iran and Venezuela?  We're being held hostage and its OUR fault!

We need to expand to nuclear energy.
End the ban on oil shale in the American West.

And of course we need to develop clean new alternative energies like hydrogen and solar, wind and wave technology.

But we wont.

Better grow a garden this year.  I bought a pressure cooker and hope to can veggies this summer.
