First let's be clear about games. If the games apply to education learning they are positively needed in today's world. The youth of today have been so inindated with technology that they don't know how to learn without simiiliar motivation.I taught Junior Special Education for forty years. When I first started teaching I hated games in the classroom. When I had a substitute that's all they did. It reached the point where I had to hide the games and only use them on a reward day. However, I have since then seen some extremely wonderful games used in history, science and other subject areas. We also now see technology that is teaching reading, math, sicienc,English and all the major subjects through games. IF the student learns and it meets the standards of their educational goal then what is the problem. In actuality with the economy the way it is the schools can't afford textbooks. They have to be creative. Don't shun the idea because we call them "Games" maybe they should be referred to as learning activities.
