OFFLINE | So these are essentially new rules that are going to be in place for the game draft, that arn't included in the main doc for 1. people who have done the game draft before don't have to go through the old rules to find them, and 2. are more "experimental" and thus may not be permanent additions. most of these additions are meant to either balance the draft to make it for fair, or to streamline the experience.
1. Grouping characters: Ideally the draft has included alot of game characters, to give people more options, but with the addition of many game characters the list became a little bloated, having many characters that just were simply never picked (looking at you koopa troopa) since they were clearly weaker then other picks (a koopa troopa is so clearly weaker then the Master Chief why would you ever pick him) so when i started to refine the list of characters i decided instead of removing characters that were never picked and generally useless, why not have a "group" pick that still counts a single pick, but includes several characters that would otherwise never be picked. for example, the "koopa troop" which includes {1 goomba, 1 koopa troopa, 1 paratroopa and 1 hammer bro} or a balverine pack {2 black balverines, 1 white balverine). this is a much better step to help balance the list, especially for alot of the weaker fighters from fighting games
2. there will be a mid draft "break" where you can swap up to 2 characters from either the remaining character list, or other players. this will help solve anyone being screwed becouse they made a bad choice.
3. Imbues: while not quite new, imbues haven’t been in every draft as they can present balancing problems, long story short an imbue if giving a character a specific item of your choice that they can utilize. for imbues they have to be from a game, and they also have to be usable for the character, as link cannot fly an arwing, and for vehicles that require multiple people, they can still be manned with 1 person although will suffer from the lack of the other position being filled. Also the imbue cannot be sentient, for example hk-47 is an "item" (aka robot) but he is sentient and thus can’t be an imbue. Also, imbues cannot have any time control or manipulation. Imbues also still have to be in the environment, so no spaceships in outer space bombarding the ground. The last restriction is there are some items that don’t fall in these categories that would still be to OP, and thus, all imbues that you are planning on using will have to be submitted to the judges for approval. |
