OFFLINE | Our 'Fred' was shipped out to Australia whether he liked it or not, aged 16 yrs on the 'Speke'2 1821 - a native of London, he was convicted of being a pickpocket. His records tend to indicate he was a little cheeky, spending some time in gaol then further time on 'helping' to build the Great North Road, I think that's how he ended up in Raymond Terrace where he married Ann Barry 1841, fathered 2 daughters, Susan [my ggrandmother] & Harriet, he died 1846 at the Caroline Chisholm home and is probably buried in the old Glebe Cemetery, Maitland. |
