"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits..."

What does it mean by "benefits"? It means that there are things you receive from the Lord as a result of being saved. There are four of them.

He forgives us. No matter what we've done, no matter where we've been, God is still willing to forgive each and everyone of us as we ask for His forgiveness. (1 John 1:9)

He heals us. One of the biggest miracles we can receive from Jesus Christ is a healing. I have witnessed first-hand the work of God as He mends physical and emotional bondage. I have also witnessed the ultimate healing as God calls one of His children home to be with Him. All we have to do is accept it and we will receive it. (Isaiah 53:5)

He redeems us. There is no greater benefit than being redeemed by the precious blood of Jesus Christ. No power on earth or in hell can take that away from us. As the redeemed, we can have a direct line to the Father through prayer, we can worship freely with other believers, and we can be assured of an eternal home. (John 3:16)

He provides us with everything we need. Just like our earthly fathers, He makes sure we have everything we need both physically and spiritually to survive each day. There is great comfort in that. (Philippians 4:19)
