OFFLINE | Jane, you are so talented to create this forum! I am also glad to hear Cian is going well. Oliver did really well the first day home, but I think he gave us a false sense of security! He is screaming at the moment. He has also come home with a cold, so I guess that is not helping!
He is settling now without the dummy. We lie him down, he grizzles and talks for about 10min then goes to sleep. The challenge is still the second sleep cycle. After 4 settles, I think he has finally gone off. We have the music on, and I have just put a humidifyer in his room, to see if that helps his breathing. I have a sore throat and not feeling well, so if he is the same, no wonder he is screamin |

OFFLINE | Jane - thanks for setting up forum. I'm sure it will be very useful for all of us.
Tracey - Sorry to hear Oliver's not well. It makes it so difficult to stick with when all you want to do is give them a cuddle.
Our whole household is sick at the moment (except me). Josh came home from a couple of days at his Grandparent's house with a tummy bug. Richard then got it and now Gus is sick. We had tow cot cot changes during the night and lots of resettling.
I have a question on day time sleep. Is there a maximum they can have? Gus has been been sleeping 2.5 hrs at both sleeps and then having a catnap for 45 minutes late afternoon/early evening. He has been waking early at 5.30ish since we have been home and I'm starting to think he is sleeping too much during the day??

OFFLINE | Nicole, Tracey, I am sorry to hear that your babes are not well. I can understand how hard it is to settle them when they are sick. Cian had ear infection and high fever just before we went to the sleeping school, it was like hell with his screaming and constant wake up. But he recovers quickly, and he is stronger now.
Tracey, maybe after Oliver's cold go away he can sleep better. Cian also had this second cycle problem. It's kinda good one day and comes back another day. today he's doing 1hr and 50 mins for the first two sleeps. I didn't resettle him. not sure about tomorrow. but at least I know how to resettle him now
Nicole, 2.5 hrs is normal as long as time between two feed is less then 5 hrs, or 4.5 on the safe side. I remember in the hospital Mom went woke Cian up after 2hrs sleep, the nurse was not happy. you can leave him to sleep unless the feeding time is due, as well as 8am and 6:15pm the latest time to be asleep in the morning and in the evening. Gee, I wish Cian can sleep more then 2 hrs too. |

 OFFLINE | Thanks Jane.
It sounds like Cian is heading in the right direction - close to two hours for the first two sleeps is great! |
