Oh, hey, anyone want a Gun Cabinet custom made? I'm dying to make one, but I don't have any guns to fill one with, yet I'm still dying to make one!

I know someone who sleeps with a handgun. For various reasons, his wife sleeps in another room and openly admits that she's afraid to get up and use the bathroom in the middle of the night for fear of him shooting her by mistake thinking she's a thief or something.

Should this person be allowed to have guns?

I almost shot my husband once.... came home unexpectedly in the middle of the night.... always annouce yourself people!!!

I don't know Shawn, if she's that afraid, I think she should moce out!

Has he shot anyone before? Does she have a reason to think he's provoked???

Is there a reason to think he's unbalanced?

Just cuz you have a gun doesn't mean you would shoot a person!

When I lived in the city and my husband worked a different shift then me, I slept with a gun beside me. When I'm alone out here in the country I sleep with a gun next to me.

I have never shot anyone.... but wouldn't be afraid to if I felt my life (or someone else's) was in danger.

I have shot animals (I'm proud to be a hunter) and many, many targets.

I stand by my right to bear arms.

I know they've had strong suspicions of one of their grandchildren breaking into their home stealing things. I was told that he asked a sheriff if he caught his grandchild breaking into his house and he shot them, would he then face any charges? From what I was told, the sheriff suggested that no judge in the land would sentence someone for shooting someone breaking into their home. He's told me personally that he'd have no problem shooting his own grandson in this circumstance, but it wasn't so much that he said it that stuck out to me, it was that he said it was a hint of satisfaction and pride to it.

Also, I'm told this person is fairly jumpy and disoriented when suddenly awakened. His wife had admitted that when he falls asleep at his computer, she's afraid to get too close to him when she tries to wake him because she's afraid he'll wake up and mistakenly strike her. What if he has his handgun in his hands when this happens?

I know that it's unreasonable to expect thorough periodic pathologies be done on all gun owners and new applicants. But I do suspect that there are many people among us who aren't 'stable' enough to possess a gun responsibly. And if a spouse openly admits that they're afraid of getting shot in the night, there's a variety of things that could imply, ranging from the gun owner being safe or unsafe with their firearms to their spouse possibly being manipulative and histrionic or substantiated in their expressed fear.

Generally speaking, I'm indifferent about gun ownership. I believe there are people exceptionally safe and well suited for gun ownership just as others are absolutely not. But having been fired upon myself in the past, and for no good reason I can personally think of, it's those who aren't really safe to be gun owners who easily pass whatever criteria that enables their acquiring and owning guns that I cannot ignore. I favor much stricter criteria for legal gun ownership, but the range I'm thinking of is conventionally unreasonable - generally speaking.

I am an avid gun control advocate. Control your gun to the point of hitting what you aim at.

I am qualified on several hand guns, rifles, bows, crossbows, spears, slings, atlatls and bowie knives. And I always hit what I aim at.
