I've got a bunch downloaded, but I haven't actually gotten arou nto listening to most of them.

So far though, I'd have to say Blind Guardian's album is winning.

All I've heard is Darkthrone, Alcest, Ereb Altor and Bison B.C. DT and Alcest were the better of the 4.

I don't have most of the 2010 that I think eventually will make my top 10 list, but as of right now A Forest of Stars is in the lead. That could very well end up toward the bottom of my list by the years end though.

As in thieves that steal spring or thieves that steal in spring? Either way the band name is cheesy, their pics are cheesy and their vocals sound like Jack the Ripper falling in a bear trap,

Your witness.

I'm fine with the out there nature of the band. Any argument about the pretentious nature about such-and-such aspect of an avant garde band doesn't phase me; I'm fine with fruity.

That said, I always dig stuff that brings something new to the table. Can you name me another band that sound like them? And beyond being unique, they do what they do well.

About the vocalist: my biggest problem with him is the way that he recycles his cadences. I don't mind his tone.

You're not alone, Chris. Happens to me as well. Most of the time it's due to my finding out about a particular band that a lot of people already like way too late. Granted the internet provides free access to anything and everything which shouldn't hinder any discovery whatsoever but damn.. it's like for every sub genre in metal there's like a dozen or so new and interesting bands that come out of the woodwork. It's like being a collector of comic books. For every title (Batman, Spiderman, X-men, etc.) that exists, there's like a dozen sister titles that exist under the same character's universe.. and then by that time you get too frustrated having to buy them ALL just to be able to keep up and remain in the know all the time, lol.

Yeah man...For every new band i check out and plan on buying their albums, there are five other bands I discover.  Plus, when I find a band I really like, I have to have everything they put out including CD and vinyl.  FUUUUUU
