How to Get Great Skin With These Top Homemade Facial Cleansers

December 31, 2013   Beauty

During the day your skin has a lot to endure. Toxic compounds present in our air, dirt, harsh weather, and store-bought cosmetics are damaging and aging your skin. To keep your skin smooth, refreshed, and healthy, it’s important to treat it with the best care.

The face is the most exposed and therefore needs the most attention. If you take a closer look at your store-bought facial cleansers you may find a whole list of chemicals you’d rather not put onto your skin. Therefore making your own, chemical-free alternative is the best way to nurture your skin and give it a clean, smooth, and fresh look.

No need to spend all your money on expensive treatments and facial cleansers. Actually, you may have all the natural ingredients hiding in your cupboards or fridge right now!

Here’s a list of my favorite all-natural facial cleansers. They are easy to make and will save you a lot of money. And Mother Nature will thank you as well, no harsh chemicals ending up in our water and free from animal testing.

So what are you waiting for? Discover which ingredients work best for your skin-type.

1.      Raw Honey For All Skin types

Probably the easiest facial cleaner of them all. No need to mix things up. Honey can be used as a daily facial cleaner. It works as an excellent moisturizer and its enzymes clean-up dead skin cells to leave your skin supple, smooth, and hydrated.

How To Use Honey As A Facial Cleaner?
•Add a small amount of honey into the palm of your hands.
•Massage into your face. For a better result, leave the honey on for about 10 minutes.
•Rinse off with warm water.

The Honey will hydrate and soften your skin, so no need to apply a facial crème or salve after the honey cleaning.

If your skin is very dry, mix a little milk, yogurt or cream with the honey. For an oily skin, try adding lemon juice. If you use a lot of make-up, add the honey onto a wet wash cloth and sprinkle a little baking soda to remove all the residues.

2.      Oil Cleansing Method For For All Skin types

Daily oil cleansing is very effective also for an oily skin. Strange you may think, but did you know that oil dissolves oil? Works wonders to clear the skin and fights acne outbreaks. The oil nourishes your skin and makes it soft and radiant.

How to Use Oil Cleansing Method?
•Combine extra virgin olive oil and castor oil in a 50/50 mixture. (other oils can be used, but castor and olive oil are both common oils used in the oil cleansing method).
•Massage the oily mixture into you face. Use your fingertips and make circular motions.
•Soak a washcloth in hot water. As hot as you can stand, as it cools quickly.
•Apply the hot washcloth onto your face, this will open your pores for a better cleansing. Remove the cloth when completely cooled and wash your face with a warm washcloth.

No need to apply a moisturizer, the oil hydrates and nourishes your skin. Works well to remove make-up.

3.      Yogurt-Apple Cleanser For Dry Skin-types

Yogurt has natural cleansing properties and is full of proteins to soften and hydrate your dry skin. Honey and olive oil add and capture moisture into your skin. And why apples? Apples are loaded with vitamin A, B, C, and other powerful antioxidants for a fresher, rejuvenated skin.

How To Make A Yogurt-Apple Facial Cleanser?
•Peel and slice 1 apple. Blend the slices in a food processor with ¼ cup plain yogurt, 1 teaspoon olive oil (or any other oil of your liking), and 1 teaspoon honey until smooth.
•Massage the mixture onto your skin.
•Leave on for a few minutes and rinse with warm water.

A bit more work to prepare, but definitely worth a try.

4.      Exfoliate And Clean Your Oily Skin With Oats And Lemon

Oatmeal exfoliate the skin and absorbs excess oil. The antibacterial properties of the lemons will help you to kill bacteria and stop acne breakouts. Using a little honey will give your skin a smooth touch.
