OFFLINE | We recently received this question on the forum:
I just had my son into the eye dr yesterday for a follow up for a swollen/enlarged optic nerve. 2 months ago he was in for a routine exam and eye dr saw that his right eye had a swollen nerve. Yesterday was to check to see if it had grown. shrank, or stayed the same. It had grown so he is making an appointment with a ped. eye specialist that comes into his office once a month. The eye dr we saw isn't just your "walmart" eye dr but an eye surgeon, one of the top in the state. As far as I know we have ruled out things like trauma, stroke. He had mentioned something about tumors when son was in 2 months ago. (DH took him to that appointment.) Just wondering if anyone here has any more info, helps. Herbs? Vits? Exercises? Anything that might help. Thankfully I don't have to wait too long to see specialist, he comes at the end of the month and the eye dr said he wants him seen THIS month. But still I wonder/worry. Oh he's 8, 9 in the summer. |

OFFLINE | I don't know a lot about this, and from what I have read and learned about there can be several causes. But I do know that I have seen a lot of suggestions for Cod Liver Oil- since the Omega 3's are helpful. Also, making sure no food dyes, additives like msg, hfcs, preservatives (but pretty sure you are doing this already.
And a good friend recommends this DVD for eye exercises for children and adults- http://www.naturaleyecare.com/shop/eye- ... ealth.html, but I would verify that exercising won't cause further enlargement.
Let us know how it goes with the specialist!
