| Every year, Easter makes me nervous! Easter Lilies are incredibly toxic to cats and yet many cat owners are unaware of this danger. Ingesting even a small amount can cause the most severe form of acute kidney failure. The toxic effect is so quick acting that the cats will generally be in kidney failure at the first clinical signs (most often vomiting). Treatment is possible but will generally require several days of intensive intravenous fluids and is not always successful. My advice is to not even bring them home if you have cats. Not all "lilies" are toxic...but always check...
